Channing Tatum has revealed that he went to extreme lengths with his wardrobe just to avoid putting a wash on.

The actor first stepped into the spotlight as a model in the early 2000s, before becoming a household name thanks to roles in She’s the Man, Magic Mike and Step Up.

Reflecting on those early days in a new interview, the 44-year-old has admitted that he actually just splashed the cash on new T-shirts because he ‘hates doing laundry’.

Appearing in GQ’s series, ‘10 Things Channing Tatum Can’t Live Without’, he shared his love for a ‘classic’ white Hanes T-shirt, and ended up with a cupboard full of them years ago.

‘I hate doing laundry,’ he laughed. ‘I hate it more than I can possibly say. I had one year that I called “the year of the fresh white tee”.

‘I don’t think I did laundry all year that year. I just wore white T-shirts that I just bought. I’d be like, “I can get two wears out of this a week. This is going to be good.” The year of the fresh white tee. 1999 or 2000. It’s a beautiful year.’

Although we can relate to hating chores, buying tops just to wear them for a couple of days may be a step too far…

However, Channing shared that it’s a completely different story when it comes to his bottoms, as he’s had the same pair of Dickies trousers since he was a teenager.

‘Pants generally are essentials in life,’ the dad-of-one added. ‘I have a pair of Dickies that I’ve had since I was probably 18 years old. I was framing houses in these things and now they’re my comfort clothes.

‘They don’t fit very well anymore, my butt has gotten bigger. But I’ll get back down to that weight.’

A simple white tee might be Channing’s go-to but he has never been one to shy away from fashion, and started working with Versace just last month.

In fact, he is now the face of Versace Eros – the fashion house’s luxury fragrance – and switched his beloved white top look for a black vest for the photoshoot.

‘When I started modeling in the 2000s, Versace was the brand I always wanted to work with but never did, so this campaign feels extra special and personal to me,’ he said of the opportunity via CR Fashion Book.

‘The Versace name has such a strong meaning to so many around the world, and to be a part of that legacy is a real privilege. Donatella is a true icon and friend, and I am so excited to see the reaction to what we’ve created together.’

‘I loved working with Channing for this shoot. Not only does he look amazing, he also put his heart into this campaign,’ Donatella Versace added. ‘He shows strength and power and is also one of the kindest and most charming men I have met.

‘He defines modern masculinity. The perfect Versace man. There is no one better to embody Eros!’
