10 Unanswered Questions Terrifier 3 Ignored That Terrifier 4 Must Resolve

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Terrifier 3!Terrifier 3 did not answer every question about the franchise the existed before or were created through the film’s story, and the unanswered questions must be addressed in Terrifier 4. Heading into the third installment of the Terrifier franchise, there was some hope that it would be the movie where director Damien Leone provided further clarity about a few different details. The first two movies focused more on Art the Clown’s kills and creating a mythology instead of answering some significant questions, such as if Art is a demon. Terrifier 3‘s ending clears up some questions – but not all.

The third film clearly answers whether Art and the Little Pale Girl are demons, providing some insight into their previously unclear motives, and implies that the Little Pale Girl possessed Vicky in Terrifier 2‘s post-credits scene. Those answers are welcomed for viewers trying to connect the dots of the franchise’s lore, but there are many other details that are completely ignored. The movie’s actual story even creates some additional mysteries that go unresolved. With Terrifier 4 on the way, these Terrifier 3 unanswered questions must be addressed next.

10 Is Jonathan Really Dead?

His Fate Needs Definitive Resolution

The biggest surprise of the film’s ending is the implication that Jonathan dies off-screen in Terrifier 3. Vicky claims that a mostly fleshless severed head in a rat-infested cage belongs to Sienna’s brother in the third act. It’s a reveal meant to help Sienna lose faith and her will to fight so that the Little Pale Girl demon possessing Vicky can make her a new host. However, the fact that Jonathan’s death is not shown and the source of the information makes it difficult to believe.

Her brother will certainly come to Aunt Jess’s house if he is still alive

Whether Jonathan is really dead or Vicky lied again is a question that Terrifier 4 must answer. The confirmation should come as part of Sienna’s story, as her brother will certainly come to Aunt Jess’s house if he is still alive. Regardless of whether Jonathan is dead or alive, providing some additional clarity on his fate is something that Leone’s next installment can’t ignore.

9 Is The Little Pale Girl Dead?

Vicky’s Body Disintegrates

The fate of the Little Pale Girl demon is another uncertainty when Terrifier 3 concludes. As the entity possessing Vicky’s body, whether the demon is still around comes into question after Sienna kills Vicky with the flame sword. Vicky’s body disintegrates afterward, with her blood creating a portal to Hell. This should mean Vicky’s time in the franchise is over, but whether Sienna killed just Vicky’s host body or the Little Pale Girl demon too is uncertain.

Terrifier 3’s 9th Circle Book & Art The Clown Connection Explained

The ending of Terrifier 3 has a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it reference to Art’s history as a book title, and it could point to what’s next for the clown.

Since Terrifier 4‘s story will be about Sienna trying to get Gabbie and the flame sword back, a journey to Hell is likely in store. That should mean some answers on the Little Pale Girl demon’s fate will come somehow. Sienna entering the demon’s terrain is an act that should not be ignored if it is still around. If she manages to escape Hell without seeing the Little Pale Girl or a new host, that could provide an answer too.

8 Why Did Sienna Leave The Fire Sword In Terrifier?

Her Weapon Against Art Is Left Behind

One mystery that Terrifier 3 creates comes down to Sienna’s decision to leave her flame sword behind after Terrifier 2 ended. The sequel reveals that she left the weapon used to behead Art the Clown back at Terrifier, even though it had the powers to resurrect and heal her just moments before. This decision requires Sienna to go back and get the sword (which all happens off-screen in Terrifier 3) so that she has her weapon to fight Art once more.

Sienna’s sword falls into Hell with Gabbie at the end of Terrifier 3

It is never explained why Sienna chose to leave the sword behind in the first place, though. Terrifier 4 should address this, as she could have been better prepared for Art and the Little Pale Girl’s attack if she had it with her originally. After all, Sienna saw the Little Pale Girl leave with Art’s head, so she should have known that the sword could be useful in the future. Hopefully, her journey to get the sword back in Terrifier 4 will provide some clarity.

7 Can Art The Clown Be Killed?

He Keeps Regenerating So Far

Art the Clown’s mortality, or immortality, is a question that has persisted since the very first Terrifier movie, and there is still no answer provided in Terrifier 3. The franchise has shown him be injured on multiple occasions, and he’s even seemed to have died in the past. However, he always comes back fully regenerated after some time. That has left the question about whether Art can actually be killed as one that’s lingered with each new installment.

While none of Terrifier 3’s kills are particularly pleasant, the slasher sequel’s nastiest shocks are some of the year’s most brutal moments.

The possibility that Terrifier 4 could end the franchise should mean the extent of Art’s regenerative abilities will become clear. Based on the current trajectory of the story, the franchise appears to be building to a finale where Sienna or Art wins once and for all. It’s no guarantee that Sienna will be victorious, but having her permanently kill Art the Clown would be a satisfying conclusion. Terrifier 4 could then feature Art’s death or confirm that he can’t die.

6 How Are The Little Pale Girl & Art The Clown Connected?

The introduction of the Little Pale Girl in Terrifier 2 left a few major questions, including how she and Art the Clown are connected. Their similarly clownish designs are notable, and it seems at first as though the Little Pale Girl works for Art. Terrifier 3 indicates that this might not be fully the case, as she is the one responsible for helping regenerate Art, and it is her goal of possessing Sienna that they are ultimately working toward.

It might be clear that the Little Pale Girl and Art the Clown are both demons, but that is the extent of their connection. Theories persist that the original child’s host body was one of the victims of Art’s host body, which would explain why they are drawn together now. That is just a theory for now, and one that Terrifier 3 doesn’t add any credence to, so it would be nice if Terrifier 4 clears up the nature of this relationship.

5 How Did The Little Pale Girl Possess Vicky?

They Were Never In Direct Contact

The Little Pale Girl’s possession of Vicky is established in Terrifier 3, which was already indicated by Vicky’s glowing yellow eyes in Terrifier 2‘s post-credits scene. The demon transferring itself to Vicky did not raise any real questions at first, but that changes as the threequel’s ending unfolds. The Little Pale Girl is shown trying to possess Sienna and seems to need close proximity, if not physical touch, to do so – along with the host lacking the will to fight back and live. Vicky might have the latter by Terrifier 2, but that doesn’t explain how the possession happened.

Based on what the movies have shown, the Little Pale Girl and Vicky never had any interaction. The demon was last seen taking Art’s head after he fought Sienna. How the Little Pale Girl then came to possess Vicky is unclear – as is what happened to the original physical form of the girl child. If the Little Pale Girl comes back in Terrifier 4, some answers about the demon’s past and possession capabilities can come too.

4 Where Did The Little Pale Girl Come From?

Terrifier 2 Suggested An Art Connection

The Little Pale Girl’s emergence in Terrifier 2 came with no real explanation as to where she came from or why she arrived now. Since the Little Pale Girl is not in Terrifier 3 in a traditional sense, there is not much elaboration about her backstory. The implication that she too is a demon provides some clarity that she came from Hell, but the physical side of her previous appearance remains just as big of a mystery after Terrifier 3.

It would be great if Terrifier 4 officially answers the nature of the Little Pale Girl’s origin and where she came from. A newspaper clipping in Terrifier 2 linked a missing girl named Emily to Art the Clown’s funhouse, and she looked just like the physical form of the demon. Now that Vicky’s body is gone, the return of the previous Little Pale Girl form could provide some answers – assuming that the demon is still alive.

3 How Did Sienna’s Dad Know She’d Become The Angel Warrior?

He May Have Had A Vision

Sienna’s destiny to become the Angel Warrior was fully realized by Terrifier 2‘s conclusion, but Terrifier 3 does not provide any further clarity on how this prediction came to pass. The movie includes a few flashbacks/dreams of Sienna’s childhood with her father and their conversations about the female superhero he’d create. While the films have made it clear Sienna’s dad somehow had prescient visions of the future – including Sienna’s role in fighting Art the Clown, the exact nature of this knowledge is still uncertain.

The closest Terrifier 3 comes to providing more information is in one of Sienna’s dream sequences when her dad appears to have visions of Terrifier 2‘s ending. However, it’s unclear if this is what he actually experienced or if several of her memories combined into one. Terrifier 4 should put see the return of Sienna’s Angel Warrior armor at some point, and hopefully some additional information about how her dad knew of this future will come too.

2 Who Was Art The Clown Before Becoming A Demon?

His Backstory Remains A Mystery

Art the Clown carrying a black trash bag in Terrifier 2

The true nature of Art the Clown is something that has been evasive throughout the Terrifier franchise’s expansion. The confirmation that he is a demon helps provide part of the answer, but it also leaves more questions about his backstory. There is still an implication that Art the Clown was a human before being resurrected or possessed by the demon. As the films have avoided taking away the mystery of his history, very little possible evidence has come about who Art was before now.

Terrifier 4‘s potential to be the final installment means it must be the spot where these questions are answered. It would be unfulfilling for audiences to see the story end without gaining clarity on Art’s backstory. Whether he was a serial killer in his prior life or something else entirely, knowing that information would benefit the franchise overall.

1 Why Does Art Only Attack On Holidays?

He’s Only Attacked On Halloween & Christmas

The other major question about Art the Clown that still needs answered is why his attacks are only on holidays. The first two Terrifier movies take place on Halloween, while the third film is based around Christmas. This has led to a belief that his powers are tied to holidays in some fashion, but whether that is actually the case or a pure coincidence remains to be confirmed. The fact that Terrifier 3 branches out to Christmas could complicate the answer.

It is now up to Terrifier 4 to reveal if there is more to Art the Clown’s holiday attacks. There is no longer an option to explain that he’s only allowed to terrorize humanity on Halloween. His five-year hibernation in Terrifier 3 also rules out the explanation that his attacks are annual, regardless of the holiday. It will be fascinating to see what answer Leone’s franchise ultimately provides – if one comes at all.
