16-year-old Yamal Turns ‘tournament Wonder’ As Spain Stop France, Storm 4th Euro Final

Lamine Yamal made history in Spain’s Euro 2024 semi-final against France, becoming the youngest goalscorer in the European Championships with a stunning effort from outside the box as Spain booked their place in the final.

At 16 years and 362 days, the Spanish starlet becomes the youngest-ever goalscorer in men’s Euros history.

He smashed the record with a sensational curling effort just three days short of his 17th birthday.

Yamal had in fact had a number of chances in previous games, notably against Georgia in the last 16, before he finally broke his duck at the tournament.

The goal led to joyous celebrations from the Spain bench with Yamal, after France had taken an early lead in the game through Randal Kolo Muani.

Dani Olmo then scored the winner for La Roja with a deflected strike from close range, sending Les Bleus and Kylian Mbappe home.

It is difficult to imagine his record ever being broken, as Yamal joins a staggering list of famous former wonderkids who scored on the European stage.
