Five persons have been reportedly burnt to death following a ghastly motor accident involving a mass transit bus at G-Hostel axis, along Abakaliki-Enugu expressway.
Blueprint gathered that the fully-loaded commercial bus came from Enugu direction before it got involved in an unfortunate accident that claimed the lives of five persons, while seven others are currently hospitalised at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Ebonyi State, Mr Joshua Ukandu, who confirmed the incident disclosed that the bus crashed and busted into flames after encountering an obstacle on the road in the middle of the night.
He said while those who sustained injury were receiving treatment at the hospital, the remains of those who passed on had been deposited in the mortuary.
The obstacle which triggered the fatal crash, Blueprint learnt, was kept as a result of ongoing rehabilitation of some failed portions of Abakaliki-Enugu highway.
