Though this is far from a complete overview of the Jedi and the Mandalorians, it serves to show just how easily the two can be seen as polar opposites.

Despite this, the groups share a variety of similarities as well. The Jedi have seen their fair share of wars, including the Clone Wars where they fought against the Separatists, and the Mandalorians have long struggled for peace on their planet. The struggles the two go through are not dissimilar, and the two groups have even been purged by the Empire at separate times, and for that reason, among others, there are many shared between them that seem as though they might fare as well or better as a part of the other group.

Appearing as the Duchess of Mandalore in several episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Satine Kryze was a bit of a unique case when it came to the Mandalorians. Even though the Mandalorians are known for their weapons and armor, Satine is much more likely to be seen offering diplomacy than choosing a fight, as she was well known for being a pacifist. It is possible that this is precisely what leads to her death at the hands of Darth Maul, a death that kicks off the infamous Siege of Mandalore.

Because of her pacifism and unwillingness to fight, Satine would likely make a good Jedi. The Jedi, especially Jedi such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, were known to be skilled diplomats that often used violence as a last resort. This would have been perfect for Satine, as it is more than likely she would not have been put into a position where she needed to fight as often as the Mandalorian culture pits people against each other.

9 Cal Kestis Has The Battle Experience Of A Mandalorian

Order 66 Prepared Him For More Than The Jedi Ever Could Have

Being the protagonist of Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor, it was inevitable that Cal Kestis was going to need to fight. He was no more than a child when Order 66 ravaged the Jedi, forcing him to grow up quickly. Since then, he has faced down and killed Imperial Inquisitors, worked on his own weapons, and even survived a match against Darth Vader himself. He is surprisingly battle-ready for someone his age, forged by the times he grew up in.

Because of his incredible capacity to survive and his talent at upgrading his own lightsaber and technology, Cal would make a very good Mandalorian. He would fit right in alongside them with his weapons expertise, and he would be more than capable of taking the fight in whatever direction the Mandalorians point to. Though on the outside he may not initially look it, Cal Kestis has the heart of a warrior.

8 Paz Vizsla Would Be A Powerful Enemy Against The Sith

His Dedication To His Found Family Is Admirable And Lends To The Jedi Way

Striking for his large size and ability to wield heavy weapons, Paz Vizsla is a valued member of the Children of the Watch. Though he sees little screen time throughout The Mandalorian, what he does receive shows him to be hard-headed and stubborn, even challenging Din Djarin for rights to the Darksaber because of his beliefs. Despite this, he serves as a strong father figure to the other Mandalorians, including his son Ragnar Vizsla.

Not only would his strength make him an asset to the Jedi, but his dedication to his found family in the Children of the Watch shows just how strongly he would fight on their behalf. Paz already operates as a mentor figure to the younger Mandalorians. This experience shows that, as a Jedi Master, he would likely be very good at training Padawans in the ways of the Force. Though similar to Jedi such as Master Windu, it is likely that his ways may come off as strict or unconventional.

7 Ahsoka Tano’s Decisiveness Is Already An Asset In Battle

Her Willingness To Leave The Jedi Lends To The Mandalorian Way Of Life

Although she is best known for leaving the Jedi Order in her youth, Ahsoka Tano was an important part of the Jedi while she was with them. Serving as Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan during the Clone Wars, she spearheaded important battles such as the Siege of Mandalore. Later in life, she took on a Padawan of her own, Sabine Wren, who was also a Mandalorian, putting Ahsoka even more in touch with the group’s culture.

Even as a Jedi and beyond, Ahsoka was tied very closely to the Mandalorians. She has already participated in their battles such as the Siege of Mandalore and helped their people, such as Din Djarin and Sabine Wren. This, coupled with her strong ability to stand up for what she believes in and her extreme battle prowess, makes her an excellent candidate for the Mandalorians.

6 Bo-Katan Kryze Would Be A Great Leader And Jedi Master

A natural-born leader in her own right, Bo-Katan Kryze is the princess of Mandalore and the last owner of the Darksaber. Ever since her first appearance in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, it has been made clear that the safety of Mandalore and its people are what is most important to her. Since then, she has returned as a main character in The Mandalorian, finally uniting her people under one banner and making a return to their home planet after years of exile.

Jedi need to be good leaders in order to properly keep the peace, and there would be no better leader than Bo-Katan. Not only would she be an asset on the battlefield, but she would have been the perfect candidate for a wartime Jedi during the Clone Wars. However, there is still no better place for her than leading her people back home to Mandalore.

5 Ezra Bridger’s Weapons Expertise Lends Well To The Mandalorian Lifestyle

The Jedi Already Has A Relationship With The Mandalorians

Making his first appearance in Star Wars Rebels and later in the live action series Ahsoka, Ezra Bridger is a Jedi introduced to what remained of the Order after the Jedi had already been purged. He learned the ways of the Force under Kanan Jarrus, facing many Inquisitors along the way. He was even exiled to the extra-galactic planet of Peridea in an attempt to stop Grand Admiral Thrawn from assisting the Empire.

Not only is Ezra good at fighting, but he is also very talented at making weapons. In fact, his very first lightsaber was unique in the way that the hilt was fashioned from his blaster. This blaster was not just for show either, as after it was made into a lightsaber, it was still able to fire stun blasts at enemies. This, along with his already special relationship with the Mandalorians through his lifelong friend Sabine Wren, would make him a good candidate for a technically gifted Mandalorian.

4 Din Djarin Would Have A Complicated Relationship With The Jedi Code

His Time With Grogu Shows He Could Also Make For An Empathetic Jedi

Din Djarin is possibly one of the most famous Mandalorians to ever come out of Star Wars, and this is for good reason. He is tactically gifted, but does not seem to want to fight if it is not necessary. He is empathetic and kind, willing to hold up a magnifying glass to what he believes in and challenge it, like he did with his beliefs in the Mandalorian culture and the Children of the Watch. He took off his helmet for Grogu in an empathetic scene of fatherly love, showing just how loving he is for a man raised in a culture of constant battle.

It is precisely this empathy and this willingness to change that would make him such a good Jedi. Jedi are notorious for getting stuck in their ways and their beliefs, similar to the Children of the Watch. Din would be the perfect person to help avoid this, acting perhaps in a similar capacity to that of Qui-Gon Jinn, who was famously empathetic and willing to bend the rules for what he believed to be right.

3 Mace Windu’s Brutal Demeanor Would Have Lended Well To The Mandalorian Culture

His Battle Prowess And Willingness To Get The Job Done Are Good Traits To Have

If there is one thing that can be said about Mace Windu’s personal Jedi path, it is that he walked it mercilessly and with exacting precision. He was not a peaceful Jedi like those of Master Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Instead, Windu was much more willing to end a threat before it had the chance to really fester. He was also incredibly intelligent, being the only one to figure out what Chancellor Palpatine was planning before he rose to absolute power in the Senate.

Because of this more severe implementation of living the Jedi lifestyle, Mace Windu’s mindset would likely translate well to the Mandalorian way. This would give him the opportunity to continue his more unforgiving ways of dealing out justice, all the while keeping those he loves and cares about safe from harm. He especially would have been helpful against the Empire’s presence on Mandalore, were he on the ground leading instead of serving on the Jedi Council in Coruscant.

She operates as a mystical figure among the Children of the Watch, forging beskar for their armor and serving as an almost matriarchal figure. Above all, she holds a strong dedication to her beliefs, but not so strong as to not work with others who may disagree with her when the need arises.

With such a powerful belief in the old ways of Mandalore, it is not hard to imagine her as a particularly dedicated Jedi. If she were brought to the Jedi as a child instead of the Mandalorians, would she hold as fervent a faith in the Force? It is likely that she would hold a dedication similar to that of Chirrut Îmwe from Rogue One, believing in the Force in its entirety.

As one of the most famous characters in the entire franchise, Anakin Skywalker has a storied history full of tragedy and violence. Not only was he once potentially the strongest of the Jedi, but he was also the most terrifying and dangerous of the Sith once he became Darth Vader. Though he did not spend much time with the Mandalorians, the Empire he helped bring to power certainly took their time destroying them.

It is difficult to imagine Anakin as anything other than the Jedi and later Sith he turned out to be, but if he were to have been born into the Mandalorian lifestyle, he would have excelled. He would have been allowed to have the attachments he so desperately craved, marrying who he wanted and caring about who he wanted. The what-if scenario is an interesting one to think about. After all, would the Empire have risen at all if Star Wars’ Chosen One was a Mandalorian instead?
