Viewers have expressed their devastation after BBC presenter Tom Heap revealed his Sky News show had been cancelled.

The Countryfile host, 58, presented the last episode of The Climate Show on Saturday and announced it had been axed after two years on air.

Tom shared the clip of his ‘pithy final line’, prompting an outpouring of disappointment from his X follower who branded the show ‘important’ amid the escalating climate change crisis.

Confused over the show’s end, account @Earth2075 remarked: ‘Why? It seems now is a more important time than ever.’

‘Very sad indeed that your great show is not continued,’ @LeonSimmons8 added.

Echoing both their sentiments, @CarlNasman wrote: ‘Sorry to hear this Tom. At a time when climate change coverage is needed more than ever, your show was always clear-headed and hopeful.’

Ending the final The Climate Show, Tom said: ‘And that is it for The Climate Show. This is our final outing.

‘A huge thank you to the amazing people who have given their time and wisdom to appear on the show, the great production team behind the lense – small but perfectly formed but, most of all, to you for watching.

‘Take care of this small, blue dot. Goodbye.’

The Climate Show originated from The Daily Climate Show, a 15-minute weekday bulletin presented by Anna Jones launched in 2021.

The following year Sky expanded the show to a weekend edition, The Climate Show, presented by Tom.

The show was 30 minutes and aired every Saturday and Sunday.

It covered the big global issues as well as those closer to home, providing audiences with insight and in-depth analysis in addition to solutions to the climate crisis.

There have been a slew of TV cancellations in the past few months as broadcasters juggle increased production costs with declining revenues from advertising.

Among those to have been given the chop are Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Launch and ITV gameshows  Sitting On A Fortune, hosted by Gary Lineker and Moneyball presented by Ian Wright
