Former Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has dismissed the speculation linking him with the Bayern Munich job, saying he is happy in his role as Austria manager.

Thomas Tuchel remains in charge of Bayern until the end of the season, but he is set to leave in the summer and a replacement is yet to be confirmed.

Like Liverpool, Bayern wanted Xabi Alonso to replace their outgoing manager but the Spaniard has decided to stay at Bayer Leverkusen instead.

The search is on to find Tuchel’s replacement and Rangnick had been touted as a possible, if unlikely, candidate for the position with the German giants.

However, the 65-year-old has ruled out that possibility, saying he is looking forward to leading Austria at Euro 2024 and beyond.

Asked if he has spoken to Bayern, he said via Sport1: No. Why should I?

‘I feel comfortable here. I still have a contract until 2026 and our goal and our path will continue after the Euros.’

Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi is a candidate to take over at Bayern, as are the likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Hansi Flick and Antonio Conte.

It is Tuchel who remains in charge, though, and will take his side to Arsenal in the Champions League on Tuesday night after back-to-back Bundesliga defeats.

‘I always give everything for the team that I coach,’ he said. ‘I’m happy to be able to train at this level. I don’t want to read headlines about other clubs. I will give everything for Bayern until the last game

‘I’m fine with the decision. In the end it’s just football. Me and my coaching staff are our harshest critics. We’ll see this through to the end. That’s what we agreed on, I stand by it.’
