Pep Guardiola will make a late call on Phil Foden’s availability for Manchester City’s Premier League clash against Luton Town on Saturday.
The 23-year-old scored a sublime goal in City’s 3-3 draw with Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter final at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday evening.
But the England international was forced off with three minutes remaining after suffering a dead leg.
City host Luton Town at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday and Guardiola has confirmed that Foden will be assessed after Friday’s training session.
‘We’re training this afternoon, then we will know better how they feel,’ Guardiola said during his pre-match press conference on Friday.
When asked specifically about Foden’s availability, Guardiola said: ‘I would like to tell you but I didn’t see the team or speak with the doctors.
‘So, we will train this afternoon. Now, when I finish the press conference, I will make a meeting and we will see how they feel.’
Foden, meanwhile, took part in a recovery session with his City teammates in Madrid on Wednesday.
Speaking about his injury after the draw against Madrid, Foden said: ‘I’ve got a bit of a bad dead leg, but I’ve got a bit of time to recover now, so hopefully I can [recover].’
City currently sit third in the Premier League table, a point behind both Liverpool and Arsenal, who are top due to a superior goal difference.
