Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand says Chelsea were ‘absolutely destroyed’ by Arsenal and it was a case of ‘men against boys’ at the Emirates.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side were humiliated against their London rivals, losing 5-0 on Tuesday night.
Ben White grabbed a brace, after Leandro Trossard opened the scoring.
To make matters worse, former Chelsea ace Kai Havertz scored twice.
After a recent good run in the Premier League, the defeat has raised doubts about Pochettino’s future at the club.
And Ferdinand says that it was a case of ‘men against boys’.
‘They [Chelsea] were second best and this was men against boys,’ Ferdinand told TNT Sports.
‘Yes, Chelsea had a young team, but it doesn’t always play out that way, as sometimes young players come out with a bit of fearlessness.
‘They’ve been good in big games in recent weeks, but today I thought they were way off it. No Palmer. They were men against boys and got absolutely destroyed today’.
Chelsea’s defeat leaves them 9th in the Premier League table, five points above Bournemouth in 13th.
Pochettino’s side travel to Aston Villa in their next league game, before hosting rivals Spurs at Stamford Bridge.
