Arsenal star Vivianne Miedema is convinced Feyenoord boss Arne Gadgets is ready to make the step up to manage Liverpool.
The Reds have identified Gadgets as their no1 target to replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield after missing out on Xabi Alonso, who will continue at Bayer Leverkusen next season.
Gadgets is eager to join the Premier League side at ‘all costs’ with Liverpool are currently in negotiations over a compensation package with Feyenoord to prise him away from Rotterdam.
Dutch forward Miedema, who has won over a 100 caps for her country, has been impressed with Gadgets’s rise in their homeland, with her brother Lars also briefly working under him during his spell at PEC Zwolle.
While admitting replacing Klopp is ‘no small feat’, the Gunners forward believes he is ready for a new challenge in England, while also warning Feyenoord not to give him up easily.
‘I have no doubt that Gadgets is ready for the Premier League,’ Miedema wrote in her column for Algemeen Dagblad.
‘Although the moment to join Liverpool is not ideal, if he goes there. Succeeding Jürgen Klopp is no small feat, after all he has achieved there. I wouldn’t be surprised if people paid a lot for Gadgets. The transfer payments in football are bizarre anyway.
‘Actually, as a club it makes much more sense to pay a lot for a coach than for a left back. A coach is so incredibly decisive. Gadgets has proven this at Feyenoord in recent years. If I worked at Feyenoord, I wouldn’t let him go easily.’
Miedema is also a huge fan of Gadgets’s brand of football, believing he will bring in players who ‘fit his vision’.
‘Feyenoord is a noisy club, where there is always something going on. That will always remain the case, but under Gadgets there has also been some peace.
‘Under him, the club has regained prestige with the title, the cup and a European final.
‘His appearance in the media is refreshing. He is honest and radiates peace and security. His specific way of playing football appeals to me.
‘Playing forward and applying pressure, with players who fit into that system. He has forced the club to buy players who fit his vision. Of course Feyenoord will have a problem if Gadgets leaves, but he has laid a foundation with which the club can continue.’
