Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has boldly insisted that Manchester City are ‘not perfect’ and ‘can drop points’ in the Premier League title race.
Saka scored in Sunday’s 3-2 north London derby win at Tottenham as the Gunners boosted their chances of landing their first top-flight trophy in 20 years.
That result saw Arsenal go four points clear of second-placed City – before their match at Nottingham Forest later in the day – which they won 2-0 to close the gap to one point.
Even after their clash against Forest, City have another game in hand and most still see Pep Guardiola’s side as the favourites to land this season’s title.
Saka, though, does not think the treble winners are as good as everyone says they are and can see them slipping up before the 2023-34 campaign finishes.
‘City are an amazing team but they’re not perfect,’ Saka told Sky Sports after Arsenal beat Spurs.
‘No-one is perfect. They can drop points. We just need to do our job and see where it leaves us.
‘We’ve got three games to go and we are going to give it everything. Now it’s shower, get on the bus, put the [Man City] game on and hope for the best!’
After Saka’s comments, City produced a comfortable 2-0 victory over Forest thanks to goals from Josko Gvardiol and Erling Haaland.
Phil Foden was surprisingly omitted from the squad entirely, with Guardiola confirming that he missed out due to illness.
Saka, meanwhile, speaking more generally about Arsenal’s win over Spurs, added: ‘That last 20 minutes wasn’t nice but it was worth it. We know it’s a big derby and they don’t want to lose 3-0 at home. Once they got one, the crowd was up, they were up.
‘The momentum shifted their way but I’m proud of all the boys. We fought to the end and got the three points.
‘We just needed to be calm. Everything was quite frantic but we showed our level heads at the end and got the win.’
