MSI Claw gets 150% frame rate boost with Intel’s help

MSI has released another update offering further improvements to the Claw’s performance. The Dragon brand is showing its handheld’s true strength with fps boosts reaching up to 150%.

Hot on the heels of the last update which brought up to a 43.5% uplift, MSI is announcing yet another massive upgrade. This time, the Claw’s GPU driver advances to version 31.0.101.5445 with BIOS staying at E1T41IMS.106 like the previous update. This is Intel’s latest GPU driver to date, bringing support for Manor Lords. A nice game to try if you are subscribed to Game Pass.

Most importantly, the combination of Intel’s drivers and MSI’s BIOS changes are said to offer from 5% in Red Dead Redemption 2 up to 150% in 7 Days to Die. The majority of games listed below saw a double-digit fps increase, notably, Cyberpunk 2077 with 58% and Monster Hunter World with 64%.

Note that these uplifts are resulting from upgrading BIOS 105, Driver 5333 to today’s BIOS 106, Driver 5445. This means you may not see a lot of improvements if you have kept your machine up to date.

MSI also claims that this update enables the Claw to smoothly play Steam’s top 100 games, though without giving further details on settings. That said, MSI recommends selecting the following settings on your Claw handheld to achieve the best gaming experience.

Game-related Setting Suggested Setting
User Scenario Extreme Performance
In-game Resolution FHD (1920*1080)
In-game Graphic Quality) Low
XeSS (Xe Super Sampling) Performance (if applicable)
V-Sync OFF
FPS Limitation OFF

If you own a Claw, you can download the BIOS update from MSI’s website here, and the GPU driver from Intel’s website here. Also, as we mentioned previously, you no longer need a docking station to update your BIOS, so you have no excuse to miss out on these improvements.
