Three siblings were killed by their mother’s former partner while she was at a hospital and he took them ‘to grab a bite to eat’, police said.
Arianny Arias Rodriguez, 13, Carlos Michelle Rodriguez, 9, and Chadal Rodriguez, 11, were discovered dead inside a car parked at Lucky Shoals Park in Norcross, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department in Georgia.
An officer who found the suspicious vehicle around 1am on Wednesday called out to the occupants and got no response. He found the bodies of the three children inside, as well as a driver who was a deceased male adult.
Detectives believe it was a murder-suicide.
The kids’ mother, Karina Rodriguez, was at a hospital with one of her other children whose father was the suspected shooter, Jose Plasencia, 56. The child they shared was hospitalized for an unrelated injury.
Plascencia met with Rodriguez and her three children who were not his and ‘after some time, the mother agreed to let the three children go with the suspect to grab a bite to eat while she remained at the hospital’, stated the police department.
The unimaginable for the mother followed.
Rodriguez wrote on a GoFundMe page: ‘I am a single mother and my heart is broken by the tragic loss of my three little angels this 08/05/2024 who left this world.
She asked for ‘help with expenses funerals of my little angels’ to send them to her country, the Dominican Republic, for a Christian burial.
‘I am devastated with my heart in pieces my world was my children and I was mother and father to them so that they never lacked anything and they took the lives of my little angels from me,’ wrote Rodriguez.
‘Thank you in advance from the bottom of my heart.’
As of Friday evening, the GoFundMe page had raised more than $34,000.
The three siblings’ death happened just a few weeks after a 10-year-old boy woke up in his Oklahoma City home to find his three brothers and mother shot dead by his father who then turned the gun on himself.
