In a groundbreaking initiative to promote social media literacy and responsible usage, the inaugural SmFest (Social Media Awakening) event took place in Awka, Anambra State, on Saturday, May 11th. The event brought together social media enthusiasts, influencers, and experts to discuss the impact of social media on society and ways to leverage these platforms positively.
The social media users gathering, which was organized by a team of young entrepreneurs passionate about leveraging social media for positive impact, featured panel discussions, keynote speeches, workshops, and interactive sessions on various topics related to social media marketing, branding, and content creation.

The event kicked off with a series of speeches featuring prominent figures in the social media industry, including renowned influencers, content creators, and digital marketing experts which includes, Mr. Ajah Excel, Mrs. Favour Kennedy, Ozioma Baba Anieto, Mr Obinna Akpuchukwu, Mr. Cornel Osigwe, Mrs. Chinwe Okoli, Hon. Osita Chidoka, Brain Jotter, Pamtech Group. Topics ranged from the power of social media in shaping public opinion to strategies for building a positive online presence.
One of the key highlights of the event was the speech from Chief Iinocent Chukwuma (CON) ably represented by his Personal Assistant and Head of Cooperate Communication and Affairs Innoson Vehicle Manifacturing (IVM), Mr. Cornel Osigwe, who intellectually told the story of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, from the days of motorcycle assembly to pastic manufacturing and to what we have today as vehicle manufacturing.
Also the event created a workshop on digital literacy and online safety, aimed at educating attendees on the importance of discerning credible information online and safeguarding their privacy in the digital age. Participants were encouraged to critically evaluate the content they consume and share on social media to combat misinformation and fake news.

In addition to the informative sessions, SmFest Awka also featured Pannel discussions, interactive activities such as networking sessions, and a social media exhibition showcasing the work of local content creators and digital artists.
