The UK could see temperatures as high as 22C this weekend as the sun starts to burst through yesterday’s overcast skies.

People can expect to be ‘feeling warm’ after a ‘murky start’ to the day, according to the Met Office, which predicts the weather to be ‘sunny with showers’.

There’ll be ‘warm sunny spells’ throughout Saturday.

The Met Office said there will be ‘chance of showers in the south during Saturday morning’ before ‘possibly turning heavy and thundery by midday’.

It will be ‘mainly dry elsewhere with low cloud and mist lifting to give some warm sunshine’.

Those low clouds will hover over the east coast for much of the day.

Scotland can expect ‘cooler’ weather, but it be ‘warming up quickly in the sunshine’.

It offers a good chance to enjoy the outdoors in between showers as rain clouds move southeast.

But Sunday will bring ‘a drier end to the weekend and into the new week’.

The Met Office expects showers to ‘still remain in places, but with plenty of sunny spells on offer’.

Except for thunderstorms around Devon and Cornwall, Saturday is expected to be a somewhat sunny day compared with previous weeks.

Even Scotland’s central belt can anticipate temperatures comparable with London around 22C.

Although drier, Sunday won’t be quite as warm across the country.

People in the south of England will fare better, with highs of 22C around London, 21C in Wales and along the south coast, and 18C in Corwnwall on Sunday.

Weather will be quite different in the far north of Scotland, with heavier clouds and temperatures around just 13C.

The same will be true of many places with an ‘onshore breeze’.

Dry weather and warm temperatures will continue into next week before showers return.

The Met Office’s Annie Shuttleworth said: ‘It does look like it could get a bit drier for Sunday and into Monday, but the pressure pattern at the moment is a fairly slow moving one.’
