Three school buses full with children crashed into each other on a bridge in Chicago on Tuesday morning.
At least 11 pupils were wounded and rushed to hospital with minor injuries after the collision on the Interstate 55 near southwest suburban Channahon.
The incident happened just after 8.30am on Tuesday as the buses were taking the students to school.
Morris Hospital confirmed twowere transported to their hospital, none in serious condition, while Silver Cross Hospital said four patients were transported to their emergency room, NBC Chicago reported.
Braidwood Police confirmed in a post on Facebook that no one was seriously injured in the crash.
But details are still to be established as to how the three vehicles ploughed into each other.
Footage from the scene of the crash show multiple ambulances and police cars at the bridge.
Additional school buses were deployed to help with taking the children to a safe area.
Just before 10.30am police said all students were relocated to a gas station while the investigation was ongoing.
A large police presence remained at the site for several hours.
The latest statement from Braidwood Police read: ‘All students who were on Interstate 55 are arriving safely back to the Reed Custer Middle School.
‘There will be no further updates from the Braidwood Police Department on this matter as the traffic crash is being investigated by the Illinois State Police.
