The Fortune Hotel has taken ITV viewers by storm, and as we gear up for a nail-biting final, rumours around a second season are swirling.
Whilst the channel has axed several programmes in recent months, and similar style gameshows like Rise and Fall failed to return on rival broadcasters, the future of the Stephen Mangan-fronted reality competition has reportedly been revealed.
Not unlike Claudia Winkleman’s hit murder mystery The Traitors, the eight-part series has seen ten pairs try and lie their way to win £250,000, involving themselves in treachery and deception.
To get their hands on the cash prize, they’ve completing tasks to try and take hold of one lucky suitcase, while avoiding the one containing the dreaded Early Checkout Card.
Three couples – Jae and Cherish, Jo-Anne and Will, Aysha and Samm – have made it to the final, and viewers have been left with their jaws on the floor as the backstabbing rose to a whole new level.
But before the season has even come to an end, the fate of the show’s future has reportedly been revealed.
Could there be a second series of ITV’s The Fortune Hotel?
Following the success of the show by viewers’ reaction on social media, a source has claimed season two could be in the works.
An insider told The Sun: ‘Launching new formats is a gamble these days and an uncommonly large number have fallen by the wayside despite them showing some promise.
‘Channel 4 poured huge budgets into reality shows Scared Of The Dark and Rise And Fall, for example, but couldn’t justify taking them to a second series.
‘That won’t be the case for The Fortune Hotel, though.
‘Despite a considerable spend, ITV is working on plans for round two.’
Metro.co.uk understands that plans for a future series are yet to be confirmed.
