Erik ten Hag’s future as Manchester United manager has been thrown into fresh doubt after what Sir Jim Ratcliffe did after Saturday’s FA Cup final.

It emerged before the game that Ten Hag would be sacked by United’s minority owner – who took over football operations in February – regardless of the result.

United’s victory in the FA Cup final saw them qualify for the Europa League, somewhat saving their season after a poor eighth-placed finish in the top-flight.

That led to suggestions that Ten Hag may be able to keep his job, but judging by the actions of Ratcliffe at Wembley, the Dutchman is still on borrowed time.

A video of Ratcliffe has gone viral on social media which shows the British billionaire being directly quizzed about Ten Hag’s future following the final.

Having been caught somewhat off guard, Ratcliffe looked back at the reporter for a second without saying a word, before he was ushered away by a member of security.

In another worrying sign for Ten Hag, Ratcliffe refused to name the Dutchman when congratulating United on their FA Cup final win.

‘It is a glorious feeling to win the FA Cup,’ Ratcliffe said. ‘Manchester United clearly were not the favourites to win today.

‘But they played with total commitment and skill and overcame one of the great teams in football. We are all very proud of the players and the staff.’

Ten Hag, meanwhile, has insisted that he is happy to depart Old Trafford if he is not wanted by the new minority owners.

‘Two trophies in two seasons and three finals,’ Ten Hag said in his post-match press conference, referencing their Carabao Cup win last term and the two FA Cup finals they have played back-to-back.

‘That’s not bad. If they don’t want me any more I go somewhere else to win trophies. That is what I do.’

A number of managers have been linked with the job at Old Trafford including Kieran McKenna, Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel.
