Elulu Of Mopa Selection Process Free, Fair, Transparent – Olafemi

A former governor of Kogi state and Balogun of Mopa community, Chief Clarance Olafemi, Thursday, appealed to those who contested in the selection of the new Elulu of Mopa but lost to embrace the winner.

Chief Olafemi stated at a press conference held at Mopa in Mopa local government area  to clear the insinuations that the process that led to the emergency of Oba Muyiwa Ibeun as the paramount ruler of the land was not free and fair.

He stated that the kingmakers were selected from the nine communities that form Mopa and were given the mandate to conduct a free and transparent selection that would produce the new Elulu for the community.

He added that after the inauguration of the kingmakers by  Otunba  Saul Olojo, the Regent of Mopa land, they conducted the selection of new Elulu based on the guideline given by the traditional council, adding that at the end of the exercise that was unanimously accepted by the kingmakers, the selection produce Oba Ibeun as the paramount ruler of Mopa land.

The former governor wondered why some people who participated in the process as a contestant went to court to seek redress.

“What is paramount is that the community needed somebody who is capable of managing Mopa people for developmental goals  that the community expects. It does not matter to the community where the person comes from as far as he is from Eleteju whose turn it is to produce the new Elulu.”
