Aston Villa are demanding a £50 million fee for Douglas Luiz with Arsenal, Juventus and AC Milan targeting a move for the midfielder.

The 26-year-old has established himself as a key part of Villa’s midfield under Unai Emery and was one of the team’s standout performers this season with 10 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.

Having secured qualification for next season’s Champions League, Villa’s finances have been boosted with a guaranteed £50 million but the club will still need to offset new signings by player sales in order to comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

The Premier League clubs who are under pressure to meet the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules will need to sell players before the deadline on June 30.

Villa have already opened discussions with Chelsea over a deal for Conor Gallagher, but the England midfielder is valued at £50m.

Meanwhile, sources in both Italy and Brazil indicate that Villa are open to selling Luiz if they also receive a £50m offer.

Juventus appear to be leading the race for Luiz as they have held talks with Villa and a swap deal has been discussed involving United States midfielder Weston McKennie.

Arsenal have a long-standing interest in Luiz and had three offers, the highest of which being £25m, rejected by Villa in the closing stages of the 2022 summer transfer window.

Mikel Arteta’s side then opted to sign Jorginho from Chelsea for £12m in the following transfer window.

However, sources in Italy claim that Juventus are aware of Arsenal’s current interest in Luiz and that the Premier League runners-up could launch a rival move this summer.

Luiz would represent a significant profit for Villa if sold as he joined the club in a £15m deal from Manchester City in 2019.

City had retained a buyback clause for the Brazilian but that expired in 2021.
