The Traitors star Charlotte Chilton has revealed that she feared she would miscarry her unborn baby with Conor Maynard.
Earlier this month, the 32-year-old, who appeared on the second series of Claudia Winkleman’s murder mystery gameshow, confirmed that she is expecting her first child, a baby girl, naming the singer as the dad.
She explained that she had met the 31-year-old on the night the final of The Traitors aired, with co-star Harry Clark – who is dating Conor’s sister Anna – helping to set them up at a party.
He has yet to address the reports, but the mum-to-be insisted that she will be going through her pregnancy solo, and only wants him involved if he’s happy to be.
In a new interview, Charlotte – who has suffered devastating miscarriages in the past – has alleged that Conor ‘turned on her’ after she told him of her baby joy, with doctors fearing the worst.
‘We had a great night together and even sent Harry a selfie of us in bed saying, “Successful match,”’ she told the Sun. ‘We kept in touch, confided in each other and planned to meet up. But after I told him I was pregnant that apparently decent man changed.
‘He turned on me, I felt pressured into keeping his identity as the father a secret.
‘It was so stressful that doctors twice put me on bed rest. I thought I was going to miscarry.’
Charlotte and Conor reportedly conceived their baby after meeting on the night of the finale airing, shortly after her split from ex-wife, Laura.
The wrap party went from the BBC Studios in London to swanky club Raffles, and Harry – who won the gameshow – is thought to have told her that the musician ‘fancied her’, but she confessed that she ‘didn’t know’ who he was.
She explained that he ‘acted like a real gentleman’ when they met, and ended up speaking for hours, before heading to his nearby home.
‘One thing led to another and I ended up spending the night with him,’ she continued, revealing that Conor played her his new album. ‘We didn’t use protection. He didn’t want to but I thought he’d been careful.’
A few weeks after their night together, Charlotte noticed that she had missed her period and took a pregnancy – but was shocked that it was positive.
The star told the publication that, as she suffers from polycystic ovaries, it is harder for her to get pregnant, and she had previously miscarried before.
She claimed that, after telling Conor the news, he asked her what they were ‘going to do’.
The following day, she voiced her fears of miscarrying once again but heard ‘absolutely nothing’ from him – until she sent a picture of her scan the following month.
He allegedly told her that he isn’t ready to be a father, and asked her not to tell anyone that they were having a baby together – something she has now branded ‘immature and selfish’.
The chart-topper is thought to have instructed his former fling to only contact him if the news was to be made public, and texted her saying, ’This is your miracle baby. It is not mine.’
Charlotte announced her pregnancy in April, and has since found out that she will be welcoming a baby girl, who she has decided to name Penelope.
She assured the musician that she doesn’t want anything from him and initially kept quiet about his involvement – but made headlines after sharing a video on social media earlier this month, hinting at the father’s identity.
Following speculation, she confirmed to Metro.co.uk that Conor is the father.
‘I was not going to allow my baby to be some dirty secret. I am now looking forward to my future with Penelope,’ she added to the Sun.
‘I don’t feel Conor deserves my respect. And my daughter will probably feel the same. But that is a decision that she will make for herself when she is old enough.’
Charlotte previously told us that Conor was ‘lovely’ about the news she was expecting when she first told him – but this soon changed.
‘The minute I started talking about co-parenting and being understanding of his work schedule, he obviously was a bit disappointed that I was doing that,’ she said.
‘I’m prepared to do this alone, but I’m not prepared to have my daughter have to grow up and not be able to say who her father is, or should I say, birth father, or hide it from her.
‘She deserves to know where she comes from. I’m not a secret, she’s not a dirty secret. I won’t be silenced.
‘I am standing up for myself regardless of if it comes back to me. I just can’t do this be quiet, and shut up anymore.’
Metro.co.uk has contacted Conor’s reps for a comment.
