President Joe Biden has expressed strong disapproval of the Supreme Court’s landmark decision granting former President Donald Trump immunity from criminal prosecution for actions taken while in office.
Biden said the American people must decide if they want to entrust, the presidency to Donald Trump, knowing he’ll be “more emboldened to do whatever he pleases.”
The 6-3 ruling, split along ideological lines, is expected to significantly delay the ongoing case against Trump, likely pushing it past the November elections.
President Biden warned that the decision “sets a dangerous precedent” and “undermines the rule of law”.
“For all practical purposes, today’s decision almost certainly means there are no limits to what a president can do. This is a fundamentally new principle, and it’s a dangerous precedent.
“The Supreme Court’s decision is a setback for accountability and transparency. No one, not even a former President, is above the law,” he added.
