There’s Only 1 Hulk I Want Deadpool To Fight In The MCU

Summary

  • The Hulk has been heavily rumored to be appearing in
    Deadpool & Wolverine
, perhaps allowing one of Marvel Comics’ most iconic battles to be adapted into live-action.
  • Instead of Bruce Banner’s Hulk, I think Hulkpool would be a better addition to
    Deadpool & Wolverine
, especially since other Deadpool variants have already been confirmed.
  • Deadpool and the Hulk have a tumultuous history in Marvel Comics, which would be great to see finally brought to the big screen.

I’m excited about the Hulk’s possible involvement in Deadpool & Wolverine, but there’s only one version of the hero I want Deadpool to fight in the MCU. It’s been common knowledge for quite some time that Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine will be a cameo-filled spectacular, bringing characters from both the MCU and Fox’s X-Men franchise together. However, I expect that many of Deadpool & Wolverine’s potential cameos are being kept tightly under wraps, and one of these secret characters is rumored to be none other than Bruce Banner’s Hulk.

While some have been waiting decades for a battle between Wolverine and Sabretooth, many have been waiting even longer for Wolverine’s first Marvel Comics spar to be adapted into live-action. Back in 1974, Wolverine was introduced to audiences during a battle with the Hulk and a Wendigo, making the Hulk’s rumored appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine even more exciting. Even though I’d love to see this battle unfold, too, there’s one other version of the Hulk from the comics that I think would make more sense for Deadpool & Wolverine.

If Deadpool Is Going To Fight Hulk, It Should Be Hulkpool

At this point, it seems a battle between Deadpool, Wolverine, and the Hulk is inevitable, but I want Deadpool & Wolverine to introduce a wildly different version of the Hulk from Marvel Comics. Instead of Bruce Banner’s powerful Avenger, Deadpool should battle Hulkpool in Deadpool & Wolverine, a version of the Merc with a Mouth who first hulked-out in 2010’s World War Hulks #1. Many Deadpool variants are expected to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, including Lady Deadpool, Kidpool, and Dogpool, so I’d love for Hulkpool to turn up, too.

Three years ago, the Marvel Cinematic Universe officially introduced Blade, hinting at the long-awaited revival of the iconic vampire hunter. However, despite this setup, Marvels Blade movie has been beset by several delays. That voice, though not visually confirmed, was later revealed to be none other than Mahershala Alis B

Deadpool hulks-out after being doused in gamma-irradiated water during a mission with the Red Hulk, transforming into Hulkpool, who expresses a vendetta against Deadpool, and wants to go back in time to kill his past self. This takes Hulkpool on a journey through various time periods, visiting important moments in Marvel’s history, which is also the rumored storyline of Deadpool & Wolverine. With so many other variants of Deadpool expected to show up, Hulkpool’s debut makes sense in Deadpool & Wolverine, and his vendetta from Marvel Comics could also be adapted faithfully.

Deadpool & Hulk’s Marvel Comics History Explained

Deadpool and the Hulk have engaged in several battles, and embarked on missions together.

Many suspect that the Hulk’s possible appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine is due to his connection to Wolverine’s origins in Marvel Comics, but the Hulk is also closely connected to Deadpool, strengthening this possibility. Deadpool and the Hulk have crossed paths many times, mostly with the Hulk hiring Wade Wilson to do some dirty work, such as tracking down General Ross or carrying out simple reconnaissance. Deadpool and the Hulk first crossed paths in 1997’s Deadpool vs. the Hulk #4, which saw the Merc with a Mouth steal some of the Hulk’s blood to cure a condition weakening him.

Since then, Deadpool and the Hulk have engaged in several battles, and embarked on missions together, contributing to a very tumultuous friendship. The Hulk finds Deadpool small and annoying, while Deadpool has respect for the Hulk’s power, but also finds him entertaining given his unpredictable nature. Deadpool valuing the Hulk’s strength was most evident in 2011’s Deadpool (Vol. 4) #37, in which Deadpool tries to get the Hulk to kill him, believing he’s the only one powerful enough to do it. This ultimately turned out to be impossible, however.

Fans Are Losing Their Minds Over New Hulk Rumors

Wolverine fighting Hulk in his first appearance in Marvel Comics

There’s been speculation about the Hulk’s involvement in Deadpool & Wolverine for quite some time, but this has really picked up steam in recent weeks. The prospect of the Hulk appearing in Deadpool & Wolverine is incredibly exciting, not least, as I’ve previously mentioned, because this can bring Wolverine’s first Marvel Comics battle into live-action for the first time ever. Recent rumors have spurred new anticipation among fans, including Reddit user hushpolocaps69, who couldn’t contain their joy about the Hulk’s possible cameo.

There has been some disbelief that the Hulk will actually show up in Deadpool & Wolverine. Recent rumors don’t seem to be based on much fact, so we’ll just have to wait a few more weeks for the movie’s release. Mark Ruffalo hasn’t commented on the matter, but worked with Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy and star Ryan Reynolds in 2022’s The Adam Project, so they may have reunited for the MCU. I’d love to see the Hulk appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, whether it be Bruce Banner’s version or a Hulkpool variant instead.

A sequel to the highly successful Deadpool and Deadpool 2 starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth. The third film will be the first film in the franchise to be developed under the Marvel Studios banner following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Ryan Reynolds is returning to play the character, alongside Hugh Jackman, reprising his Wolverine role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time.
