AMD has a big month ahead with the launch of its Ryzen 9000 series, but a new generation spells wonderful news for current models. Digging deep into Amazon’s pre-Prime Day sale, one of our favourite gaming CPUs is now half-price.
With a staggering 54% off, you can get AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D for just £369.99 on Amazon UK. This is a far cry from its near-£800 RRP and just a couple of quid above its lowest price ever. It wouldn’t feel right to leave our friends across the pond out, as US shoppers can save 34% by getting the same CPU for $397.99. And, as usual, prices fluctuate across Europe. While there’s currently no discount in France and Germany, Italy can grab one for €404.99. Just click the link below, and it’ll show you your region.
AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D
“Experience the world’s most powerful gaming desktop processor, with 12 cores, 24 threads, and 128MB of AMD’s groundbreaking 3D V-Cache technology.”
We earn a commission if you make a purchase, at no additional cost to you.
These are limited-time deals, so I don’t recommend you deliberate for too long. And remember, you get the luxury of Amazon’s 30-day money-back guarantee. You can buy the CPU, try it out for yourself, and return it within the month-long return window for a full refund if you’re unhappy. I don’t think you will be, though. Just look at what this thing’s packing:
7900X3D specs
Based on Zen 4 microarchitecture, AMD built Ryzen 9 7900X3D on solid foundations. You can only pair it with DDR5 memory, which could influence your buying decision if you need to get a B650 or X670E AM5 motherboard, but this keeps it in the fast lane.
There are processors out there with a higher thread count, but 12 cores and 24 threads should satisfy all but the most extreme workloads. Besides, its 5.6GHz frequency leaves very little on the table. Its secret weapon comes from a lofty 128MB 3D V-Cache, which keeps frame rates higher than almost any other chip. To put this in perspective, it’s 3.5 times higher than the L3 cache on the rival Intel Core i9-14900K.
7900X3D Performance
Even though AMD’s Ryzen 9000 series is just around the corner, Team Red admitted that they won’t beat Ryzen 7000X3D in gaming. In fact, it’s one of the main reasons we believe the company is taking 9700X back to the drawing board with a respec ahead of release. It won’t be until Ryzen 9000X3D rolls around that 7900X3D is dethroned as one of the best CPUs.
Currently, 7900X3D beats i9-14900K in Cinebench R23 with a 2,630 single-core score and 16,482 multi-core result. Considering even AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D trounces Team Blue in games like Forza Horizon 4, Final Fantasy XIV, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you can expect far more from its successor.
Right now, there are very few processors that are better for gaming, and even fewer with such a good deal behind it. Of course, we’ll keep an eye out for more discounts and you can stay in the loop by following us on Twitter or Facebook and subscribing to our free weekly newsletter, but I wouldn’t hang around on this one.
