WWE has revealed Drew McIntyre has been fined and suspended after a confrontation with Adam Pearce following Money In The Bank.

The Scottish Warrior’s rivalry with CM Punk took another dramatic turn on Saturday night when he cashed in his MITB briefcase midway through Damian Priest’s World Heavyweight Title defence against Seth Rollins.

McIntyre appeared primed to win back the championship, but Punk appeared from under the ring and went onto the attack, costing him the title for the third time this year.

The storyline continue after the premium live event – which also saw John Cena announce his retirement – went off air, with the veteran heavyweight interrupting the Money In The Bank Post Show while ranting about the way things went down.

Raw General Manager Adam Pearce tried to calm him down, only to get elbowed in the face, which prompted McIntyre’s longtime friend Wade Barrett to try and calm him down.

He was led away, but now Pearce has confirmed while both men have been given a financial penalty, McIntyre has also been ‘suspended indefinitely’.

‘The elephant in the room,’ he said in a video hyping up tomorrow night’s episode of Raw.

‘Everybody saw what happened at MITB and after. As a result, and after careful consideration, I am hereby fining both CM Punk and Drew McIntyre an undisclosed amount for their actions.

‘Furthermore, due to putting his elbow squarely in my teeth, I am hereby officially suspending Drew McIntyre indefinitely.’

Meanwhile, Pearce teased there was ‘more to come tomorrow night’ on the weekly broadcast.

The storyline twist comes weeks after McIntyre – in-character – claimed he was quitting WWE after Punk cost him a dream hometown win in the main event of Clash At The Castle in Glasgow last month.

Now, the two stars appear to be on a collision course, with fans expecting to see them both collide at SummerSlam on August 3 in Cleveland, Ohio.

However, MITB did add a wrinkle to the whole situation, with Punk’s actions helping Priest retain, meaning Rollins lost and – as per the agreed stipulations – cannot challenge for the World Heavyweight Title as long as the Archer of Infamy holds it.

He angrily stared down the Voice of the Voiceless after realising what had happened, bringing everything full circle with all three men looking poised to scrap over the coming weeks and months.

A potential triple threat could be on the card for SummerSlam, particularly with Priest set to defend his title against 2024 King of the Ring winner GUNTHER.

WWE Raw airs Monday nights at 1am on TNT Sports 1.
