The battle between Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham and her bullies has taken a new turn as the actress faces heavy backlash from Nigerians for reporting trolls who cursed her for supporting President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 general election to the police for cyberbullying.
Quick check from TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) shows that Wikipedia had tagged the actress, a bully in her bio on their page. Angry Nigerians have also taken to the video streaming platform, Netflix to demand her movies to be taken down.
An X-user had shared a screenshot of his letter to Netflix, urging everyone to follow in his footsteps. In the letter that surfaced on social media, the user pleaded with the streaming platform to boycott her movies over her ‘oppressive and bullying’ behaviour.
TNG reports that the an X user had earlier called the actress out stating that she had arrested his mother.
Addressing that, Toyin said, “I never arrested your mum. Your friend Ayo was arrested for cyberbullying and cursing and defaming my family, and your mum went there saying she won’t leave without him.”
In 2023, Abraham had publicly endorsed Tinubu by sharing pictures of her meeting with the then-presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, alongside the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
In her post, she expressed renewed hope and confidence in Tinubu’s vision and strategies for addressing the nation’s challenges.
She wrote, “For the first time, I met the incoming president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and he shared some of his ideas visions and strategies to solve the challenges before us as a nation. Listening to him renewed my hope and reaffirmed why he is my choice.”
However, ever since the country’s economy nosedived due to Bola Tinubu- led administration’ decisions to remove subsidy which has induced hardship, pushing many Nigerians below the poverty level, netizens have singled out and criticised Abraham for endorsing and defending her political choice.
