I Really Need Inside Out 3 To Bring Back Lance Slashblade After His Scene-Stealing Debut

Summary

  • Inside Out 3 must include Lance Slashblade’s character – a standout element loved by many in the sequel.
  • The new emotions like Anxiety and Envy, along with side characters like Lance, made Inside Out 2 memorable.
  • Inside Out 3 should address what happened to Lance Slashblade, giving closure to his story in the universe.

I need Inside Out 3 to make sure Lance Slashblade makes an appearance because he was one of the best parts Inside Out 2. The sequel to the 2015 original film, Inside Out, Inside Out 2 introduced audiences to a now-teenage Riley. With a high bar to reach following the popularity of the first film, Inside Out 2 managed to smash box office records and make itself a standout film within the incredible lineup of Pixar films. Due to its immense success, there has already been chatter about the potential of an Inside Out 3 coming to fruition.

Inside Out 2 did a fantastic job at bringing back beloved characters from the original film and introducing new ones who fit into the storyline perfectly. Characters like Anxiety and Envy were absolutely needed to tell the story of Riley’s coming of age journey and are part of what has made the film such a success. While the new emotions deserve a lot of the credit for making the movie memorable, the side characters that were introduced also played a big role. For example, Lance Slashblade, managed to make quite the impression through his limited time on screen.

Lance Slashblade Is One Of Inside Out 2’s Best Parts

One of my favorite parts of Inside Out 2 is how it beautifully blends the seriousness of topics like anxiety and coming of age with the comedic relief that characters like Lance Slashblade provide. Lance managed to be a standout character in Inside Out 2, thanks to his over-the-top persona, nonsensical catchphrases, and glitchy movements. In a movie filled with heavy movements, Lance’s character was a much-needed provider of lightness and laughter.

Not only is Lance a strong addition to Inside Out 2 because of the humor he brings, but also the nostalgia he evokes. Serving as a parody of classic video game heroes, the made-up character feels like one that could have existed outside of the Inside Out 2 universe. The embarrassment that Riley has over having a crush on him adds to her relatability, as it is common internet discourse over cartoon crushes from people’s past.

Inside Out 3 Needs To Explain What Happened To Lance Slashblade

If an Inside Out 3 ever comes to fruition, it is essential that it explains what happens to Lance Slashblade. Viewers got little closure as to what becomes of Lance after he rolls through the vault, and I strongly believe they deserve answers. While some characters in the Inside Out universe, like Bing Bong from the first film, had their stories told in a way that felt complete, Lance did not get the same justice. This is something that Inside Out 3 can and should correct.
