A British woman has been killed in front of her family on an island in Greece, it has been reported.
The 47-year-old was had been out for a walk in the town of Chania, Crete, when a car ploughed into them.
The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and smashed into the woman and her 54-year-old sister-in-law as a result.
The victim, who has suffered a wound to the head, was rushed to a hospital in the nearby town of Rethmino.
She died there a few hours later. Her sister-in-law survived the crash, but suffered severe abrasions to her arms and legs.
The incident happened at around 7.30pm on Friday. Hellenic Police are currently investigating the incident.
Crete is the largest of the Greek islands, and is a popular tourist destination for British tourists.
According to research site Statista, there were more than 800,000 visitors from the UK in 2023, the second highest after Germany.
