McDonald’s UK is making some big changes to its menu in the coming weeks, — with not one, but FIVE fan-favourites making a comeback.

If that weren’t enough, there’s also a brand new drink being launched and the price of coffee is being slashed to just £1.39 for select drinks.

But it’s not all good news, as the new launches mean that we’ll have to say goodbye to the current birthday menu, which has included the Double Big Mac, Raspberry Ripple Milkybar McFlurry, and the McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse.

You’ll have until September 3 to get your fix of those items, before the return of the Philly Cheese Stack and Chicken Big Mac on September 4.

For those who don’t know, the Philly Cheese Stack contains two beef patties, cheese sauce, two cheese slices, grilled and crispy onions, and pickles in a toasted bun.

It first launched in October 2023, but left the menu at the end of November, with fans saying Christmas was ‘ruined’ because of it.

Online, @_elliottxo said: ‘That Philly Cheese Stack is the best limited-edition burger McDonald’s have ever done.’ While @rednuoPdnuorG described it as ‘sensational’.

@HoodieUce said: ‘That new Philly Cheese Stack from McDonald’s might genuinely be the nicest fast food burger I’ve ever tasted.’

Similarly, @MrCarrReads claimed it was ‘the best burger they’ve done in years’, as @jenxcamp thought it was ‘undoubtedly the best burger [they’d] ever had.

And @PZReInV added: ‘That McDonald’s was life changing. Philly Cheese Stack is some real eats, plus the sticky toffee apple pie after.’

The burger was said to be so good, that a petition was even launched for its return last year, by a change.org user known as Naomi Campbell. She said the Philly Cheese Stack as ‘incredible’ and confessed she was ‘devastated’ to lose it.

Chicken fans will also be able to get their hands on the Chicken Big Mac once more, as it will also be returning to the menu in September.

The giant burger, which was last featured on the menu in December 2023, is a twist on the classic with two chicken breast patties in a crispy coating, a triple layered bun, cheese, lettuce, pickles and of course, the Big Mac sauce.

Everyone’s favourite Mozzarella Dippers are also back, served with a salsa dip for £2.39, and at the end of your meal you can cool off with either a Galaxy Chocolate McFlurry, or a Twix Caramel McFlurry.

Twix fans are also being treated to a brand new drink in the form of a Twix Latte (£2.69), which Maccies describes as a ‘smooth latte blended with a Twix flavour syrup, topped with caramel cream and Twix crumb’.

McDonald’s also recently announced it was unveiling a new price for coffee, which is £2 cheaper than the UK average.

The fast food chain uses freshly ground Arabica Beans from Rainforest Alliance Certified Farms to create coffee, and as of right now an Americano or white coffee is just £1.39.

Customers can also enjoy a latte, cappuccino, or flat white for £1.99, or treat themselves to a toffee latte for £2.29.

And the fun doesn’t stop there… for one week only ahead of the new menu launch, McDonald’s lovers will be able to get their hands on a rare item from the US.

The Grimace shake, a viral purple drink, will be sold in restaurants nationwide from August 28 to September 3.

There’s been much speculation about the flavour of the colourful treat, but Maccies UK says it features a blueberry flavoured syrup which is blended with a creamy milkshake base to create the ‘perfect purple combination’.

The drink will cost £2.69 for a medium shake and £2.99 for a large, and can be purchased in restaurants, through the McDonald’s app, at the drive-thru or via McDelivery.

The Grimace Shake was first launched in America in June 2023 and was available for a month to celebrate the 52nd birthday of the chain’s purple character, Grimace.

Its launch quickly spawned a bizarre TikTok trend, with people filming themselves pretending to collapse after taking a sip of the drink. As such, many social media users now refer to it as ‘the infamous Grimace Shake’.

The trend is thought to have started because the character of Grimace was originally introduced in 1971 in McDonaldland as a villain known as ‘Evil Grimace’ who liked to steal milkshakes.

However, the ‘evil’ part of his name was dropped in 1972 and he was reintrduced as a clumsy but friendly monster. The McDonald’s Twitter account posted in 2014 that according to Grimace lore he’s ‘the emobdiement of a milkshake or a taste bud’.

A number of famous faces took to social media to share their thoughts on the milkshake after it was released, including Friends star Courteney Cox. She shared a parody video, which joked that her dog had tried the drink and it turned the pooch into a ginormous purple creature.
