A man has been charged with murder over the death of Amazon delivery driver Claudiu-Carol Kondor.
Claudiu-Carol, 42, was found seriously injured on Tuesday evening after his van was stolen while out making a delivery in Wortley, Leeds. He died at the scene.
Mark Ross, 32, of Conference Road, Armley, has been charged with murder.
A 24-year-old man arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder remains in custody.
Claudiu-Carol was delivering a parcel at around 6.45pm when he found a man breaking into his van, a plain silver Ford Transit Cargo.
While trying to stop them, the man drove off at speed with the victim party hanging out from the passenger door.
The van then collided with two parked cars on Height Drive and was driven away leaving the victim injured in the street.
Police found Claudiu-Carol seriously injured at around 6.50pm. The van was later recovered.
Amazon confirmed that Caludiu-Carol was working for a third-party courier service, SP Transport Group.
Mike Neill, Operations Manager of the SP Transport Group, launched a GoFundMe in Claudiu-Carol’s memory.
‘It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the loss of our beloved colleague, Claudiu-Carol Kondor,’ the fundraiser says.
‘Claudiu was a dedicated and cherished member of the SP Transport Group family, who tragically lost his life on August 20, 2024, during a struggle that occurred in the midst of a van theft. This unimaginable loss has left us all devastated.’
