As Sex and The City’s Samantha Jones famously said: ‘We’re all animals reacting to each other’s smells’.

Yep, we know that charisma and a kind heart are green flags in a partner, but there’s something to be said about the power of a delicious scent. To put it simply, it gets those pheromones moaning.

Issey Miyake launched their first fragrance way back in 1994 and the classic L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme has been keeping customers hooked ever since.

Thirty years on, Issey Miyake is celebrating with the brand spanking new fragrance Le Sel d’Issey – which boasts a woody scent and utilises the power of salt. And who doesn’t love salt, right?

Le Sel d’Issey by Issey Miyake is a new fragrance inspired by the natural element of salt. Created by perfumer Quentin Bisch, it features woody and marine notes, including laminaria seaweed, oak moss, vetiver, and cedarwood. The scent captures the essence of both sea and land, creating a dynamic and vibrant aroma. The bottle, designed by Tokujin Yoshioka, reflects the fluidity and energy of salt with its unique elliptical shape and chrome metal cap.

Better yet, customers have not only praised the powerful scent but some have insisted it can evoke ‘erotic’ thoughts. If we had pearls, we’d be clutching them.

‘This is the best man’s perfume ever,’ Anichka said in their review. ‘It’s soft and strong, long lasting and provokes erotic thoughts in women :)’

‘The ladies love me now, it’s not overpowering but subtle,’ Brian added in his feedback. Get with your bad self, Brian.

And one anonymous customer praised: ‘I fall for any man wearing this Miyake masterpiece! Every time. I can pick this out in a restaurant or club. I gravitate towards the person wearing it! It’s sexy, sweet and powerfully attractive!

‘Makes a man of any age feel in his prime is the how it was described to me, a woman. I collect fragrances and this is in my collection. This is the kind of fragrance you lightly spray on your pillow to evoke good memories! Highly recommended.’

Well that’s certainly resounding praise, if ever we heard it.

No doubt Le Sel d’Issey is going to prove a popular choice, because Issey Miyake certainly know how to deliver a fragrance that packs a punch.

The original 1994 scent blends bright yuzu with warm nutmeg, and has a woody base of sandalwood, musk, and cedar.

With Le Sel d’Issey, you may be wondering if salt has a scent. Well, technically it doesn’t. But that didn’t deter perfumer Quentin Bisch, who crafted the fragrance.

‘Salt is the memory of a wave on the earth and on the skin. My intention was to tackle the element salt, which responds naturally to the element water, previously interpreted by the brand, as well as the movement of nature,’ he explained recently.

The result is a delicious mix of marine seaweed with natural origin oak moss and there are notes of sparkling ginger too.

The luxury brand is renowned for producing sleek and stylish bottles with their fragrances too and the latest design was produced by Japanese artist and designer Tokujin Yoshioka, who has been collaborating with Issey Miyake for twenty years. The masculine curves of the bottle are intended to reveal the radiance of light and the energy of salt.

Go on, give it a try. Just don’t blame when you suddenly become irresistible.
