Celebrity Big Brother star Fern Britton has candidly opened up about her preferences in bed and her fears of being ‘critiqued badly’.

The former This Morning presenter, 67, is believed to be single after splitting from Phil Vickery in 2020.

The ex-couple, who were married for 20 years and share one daughter together, have remained relatively tight-lipped over their relationship and split.

But Fern has now opened up about her views on intimacy, and what she looks for in the bedroom.

While she admitted sex isn’t ‘enormously important’ to her, Fern revealed she worries about being judged, saying: ‘It’s more [about] exposing yourself to a stranger’s eyes and [thinking], Will I be critiqued badly? Do I want to be critiqued?

‘I want the ideal sex, which is romantic, gentle, fulfilling and looking into each other’s eyes.’

Speaking to Women & Home, Fern went on to say, according to MailOnline, that she’s not looking for ‘sex for sex’, and doesn’t want to be given ‘accessories to wear or use’.

Though she’s spoken in the past about choosing to remain single, she went on: ‘And then, of course, I’d have to perhaps go for somebody with a big beer tummy and hairy ears.

‘Well, if I love him, that will be fine! To be seen, that’s what we would all prefer.’

After her stint on Celebrity Big Brother alongside the likes of Louis Walsh and Nikita Kuzmin, Fern spoke earlier this year about whether she was dating.

She said: ‘The answer is no. I’m not dating at all. I’m not looking for anything.

‘But – although I would never want to get married or live with anyone again – I would like a bit of romance.’

Musing on what a partnership would entail, the ITV star continued: ‘A little bit of going out to supper or maybe having a bit of a holiday. Somebody to talk to at the end of the day to run things past. That would be nice.’

Fern added: ‘I don’t need it but it would be nice.’

The TV presenter met Phil, 63, on the set of Ready Steady Cook and they began dating after Fern split from her then-husband Clive Jones, who she met while he was still married.

Announcing their divorce in 2020, the pair shared a joint statement, saying: ‘After more than 20 happy years together, Phil and I have decided to go our separate ways.’

It went on: ‘We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children. We would appreciate it if our privacy is respected at this time. Thank you for your continued kindness and support.’

They’ve never spoken about the reasoning behind their split, but Fern once described Phil as her ‘life’s great love… a really amazing husband, partner, friend.’
