A man frowned and appeared upset after being captured for allegedly shooting dead four train riders ‘execution-style’ as they slept.

Rhanni Davis, 30, wore a white hooded jacket and seemed to give a defiant expression in his mugshot released by the Forest Park Police Department a day after the mass shooting on a CTA Blue Line train.

Four passengers aboard two cars on the westbound train were fatally shot at the Forest Park station just before 5.30am on Monday, after which the suspect fled.

Davis was arrested within an hour-and-a-half on a CTA Link Line Train in another part of Chicago.

He was charged with four counts of first-degree murder, announced police, the Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx and Chicago Transit Authority President Dorval Carter Jr on Tuesday evening.

The victims were identified on Tuesday afternoon as Simeon Bihesi, 28; Adrian Collins, 60; and Margaret Miller, 64. The fourth victim, a 52-year-old man, has not been named pending notification to his family.

Collins was shot in the abdomen while Miller was struck in the head. Bihesi and the unnamed victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Their deaths have been ruled homicides.

‘They were shot execution-style as they slept,’ said Forest Park Mayor Rory Hoskins.

A motive for the shooting has not yet been determined.

It appeared ‘random as there was no altercation leading up to the shootings’, said Forest Park Deputy Chief of Police Christopher Chin.

‘As the train approached the first stop, Davis’ can be seen in the CCTV footage standing in the carriage with the three persons who appeared to be asleep – these victims were not sat together,’ Chin told The Independent.

‘He then killed each of them one by one and then walked into the adjacent carriage where he then shoots Collins who also appeared to be asleep.’

Some reports indicated that the victims were homeless, but the state attorney and police have not yet confirmed.

‘First of all I can’t speak to the question of whether these individuals are homeless or not,’ said Carter.

What I can tell you, is around the issue of homelessness itself, we have engaged and provided more resources to support people who are homeless on CTA than ever in the history of our agency.’

Davis, of Chicago, was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday afternoon.
