Appeal Court Constitutes Election Tribunal For Edo Governorship 


President of the Court of Appeal Hon. Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, Wednesday, constituted the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal for Edo state, ahead of the election billed for Saturday.

Justice Dongban-Mensem said: “The mandate of the tribunal was to hear and determine petition(s) that may arise from the Edo State Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2024.”

The Appeal Court president said the development was in line with the provisions of section 285 (1) and (2) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as Amended), and paragraph 133 (3b) of the Electoral Act 2022.

This was contained in a statement issued by the secretary of the tribunal, by Mua’azu Ibrahim Bagudu, ESQ. 

The statement noted that the Secretariat/Registry of the tribunal is open to the public, and located at the High Court of Justice complex in Benin City, Edo state capital.

It also admonished anyone wishing to file election petition or for further inquiry, should contact the secretary of the tribunal in the above mentioned address.
