It may have been a long time coming, but Radeon RX 7800 XT has stood the time as an excellent value graphics card. Its original launch price of £480 already made it a formidable foe for similarly priced GeForce rivals, but it’s only become more affordable over time. Now, at its current cost, it easily takes the crown as the preferred pixel pusher of choice for those in the know.

This particular model features a white triple-fan cooler, whose cool appearance is only matched by what will be equally cool operating temperatures. Don’t let its low price fool you, as Radeon RX 7800 XT is more than capable of going toe-to-toe with far more expensive graphics cards. More specifically, it gives GeForce RTX 4070 Super a run for its money both in terms of performance and specification.
If you’re the kind of gamer that couldn’t care less about ray tracing and prioritises raw frames, then Radeon RX 7800 XT is a perfect fit for any FHD or QHD setup. It can stretch its legs to 4K in the right circumstances, thanks to its 16GB of VRAM, but it shines brightest at the aforementioned smaller resolutions.
Combined with my Ryzen 7 7800X3D, I can confidently squeeze 145fps out of this card in Cyberpunk 2077 using the game’s Ultra settings at 1080p. Even at QHD, it pumps out a mighty impressive 94fps.
Its strength lies in rasterised rendering but it’s more than capable of delivering playable frame rates with ray tracing enabled. Of course, GeForce has the advantage, but Radeon RX 7800 XT is by no means a slouch, especially given the growing prevalence of FSR 3 Frame Generation.
To further sweeten the deal, this graphics card comes with two free games: Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and Unknown 9: Awakening. Taking the retail value of these titles into account, you’re saving another £99.98 (£54.99+£44.99). While the latter is yet to launch, I can attest that the former is a gory good time.
