Deal of the day: Xbox Wireless Controller prices are at their lowest

I like a mouse and keyboard as much as the next guy, perhaps even more so because I’m always hunting for the best. However, sometimes, there are benefits to picking up a controller. For a start, it’s comfier and promotes a better posture, and some games just play nicer with a pad in hand. I’m eyeing one up in preparation for Monster Hunter Wilds, and, as luck would have it, Xbox Wireless Controllers are currently up to 33% cheaper.

Amazon UK is running a limited-time deal that slashes the price of several colourways down to just £39.99, most of which are their lowest price ever. We’re partial to Deep Pink for no particular branding-related reason, but Parm himself owns a Shock Blue model because it reminds him of Sonic. Otherwise, there’s also Astral Purple, Electric Volt, and Xbox Green (otherwise known as Velocity Green), all at the same price.

Further afield, you’ll notice up to 32% off certain models on Amazon US. The standard Carbon Black, Robot White, Pulse Red, and Velocity Green models have all dropped to $44, while Electric Volt runs slightly pricier at $46.

There’s no luck in Germany, but the rest of Europe gets one of the nicest-looking controllers on sale. Dream Vapor, which is a purple-pink marble effect, falls to €52.99 with a 24% discount. This would be my choice of the bunch if it were slightly more affordable in Blighty. Click the big pink button above to see what you can get in your region.

Frankly, there are a lot of different controllers out there nowadays, but few stand up to the tried-and-true Xbox Wireless Controller in terms of value. Sure, you can spend £200 on Razer Wolverine V3 Pro and reap all its benefits, but there’s elegance in spending wisely. It does all the basics well, from its ergonomic grippy layout to its hybrid d-pad and 3.5mm connector on the bottom.

I recommend grabbing an Xbox Wireless Adapter if you plan to use the controller with a PC because it gives you the lowest latency possible. If lightning-fast speeds don’t bother you too much, you can hook it up via Bluetooth and get up to 40 hours before you need to plug it in again. Once it’s low, simply connect it via USB-C and continue gaming while you charge.

If you subscribe to Amazon Prime, you could have your hands wrapped around your brand-new controller by tomorrow. And there’s no reason not to give it a try because the retailer gives you up to 30 days to return it for a full refund if you’re not happy – just keep in mind this might vary depending on your region.
