Brazilian club Palmeiras made an offer to sign Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus ‘in recent days’, according to reports.

Brazilian news outlet ge.globo claim that Palmeiras officially contacted the Gunners but the north Londoners categorially ruled out any type of switch.

Arsenal are not interested in selling or loaning out the 27-year-old to the South American side, with Jesus currently under contract until June 30, 2027.

Jesus, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City for £45m in the summer of 2022, played in Palmeiras’ youth academy and first team from 2013 until 2017.

The Brazil international has only played 19 minutes of Premier League football so far this season, missing two matches in August over a groin injury, with Kai Havertz taking his spot in the XI.

Mikel Arteta threw his support behind Jesus earlier this season when asked if he could have a big impact like Havertz last year, saying: ‘100 per cent.

‘One of the biggest things in this sport is mental toughness. Kai showed an unbelievable one.

‘And when you are surrounded by people who love you, wanting to put in everything that they can to help you and make you better, and people are little bit patient as well, and you see that that person is so willing after everything he’s doing. Gabi looks like he really wants it so that’s the best start.’

Arsenal legend Ian Wright declared in August that it was a ‘big season’ for Jesus and told him that he needed to ‘bring more’.

Fellow football pundit and ex-Gunners player William Gallas, meanwhile, stated the following month that Arsenal need a new striker ‘unless Jesus can get fit and perform’.

‘[Brighton’s] Joao Pedro could be the man to make a difference at Arsenal – but it would be for next season,’ Gallas told Gambling Zone.

‘Even in January it could be too late because Mikel Arteta needs the title this year.

‘‌It would have to be a huge bid for Brighton to sell in January but they need a striker unless Gabriel Jesus can get fit and perform.

‘It’s so difficult for strikers to come in and make an impact after joining in the winter.’
