Peter Andre has revealed that he is no longer welcome at King Charles’s iconic London home, after a bit of a blunder that caused quite a lot of damage.
Peter, 51, is best known as a 90s crooner and not someone with a bad boy persona, and yet the Mysterious Girl singer might be one of the few celebrities to be banned from Buckingham Palace.
The singer has been to the palace on three occasions. In 2019 he attended twice for a Duke of Edinburgh award ceremony and then again the next day with his wife Emily Macdonagh, 35, to attend the Not Forgotten Association Annual Garden Party.
Peter revealed that while he might have been invited twice five years ago, he is now persona non grata in the palace.
When asked if it was true he’s ‘no longer welcome’ at Buckingham Palace, the singer said: ‘Put it this way, I’ve not had an invitation back.’
He explained that he accidentally made a faux pas that caused quite a lot of damage.
‘I was invited there by the Prince’s Trust and I was telling a joke when I knocked over my black coffee and it stained this beautiful red carpet,’ he told The Times.
‘One of the staff joked: “One square metre of this carpet costs more than your house.” We laughed, but I was devastated.’
He revealed that his mistake made its way around the castle and even the staff joked about it with him.
‘As I left, a security guard at the front gate said: “Her Majesty is not going to be happy.”
‘They all knew about it before I’d left the building.’
The singer first shot to fame in the UK when his 1995 hit Mysterious Girl reached number one upon reissue.
In 2004, he made an appearance on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and then met his ex-wife Katie Price, with whom he shares two children.
Speaking about his five children in the Times interview, Peter said his children Princess and Junior get along well with his three younger children with his wife Emily.
‘They love them. Princess comes downstairs in the morning and says: “Dad, drink your coffee. I’ll take Belle.” She’s unbelievable for a 17-year-old.
‘Junior, who is 19, will kiss the baby and play-fight with Theo. They have a great bond, but then, like many teenage boys, he disappears to his room.’
In a birthday post earlier this year, Peter called his daughter Princess a diva and joked her diva moments only make him love her more.
