Fans think Nintendo has just hinted at the Switch 2 reveal date

Are fans setting themselves up for disappointment? (Nintendo)

Leakers are still suggesting a Switch 2 unveil in early October and now some fans think Nintendo has hinted at exactly when.

Almost everything in the video games world gets leaked early but one of the few exceptions is anything to do with Nintendo, with what few rumours there are usually turning out to be wrong. And yet multiple leakers have suggested that the official unveiling of the Switch 2 will take place in early October.

There’s no evidence to support this but PH Brazil (real name Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe) has restated his assertion that the Switch 2 will be announced this year, despite many assuming Nintendo would wait until 2025 – so as to not put people off buying a Switch at Christmas.

Lippe doesn’t mention a specific date, but Paul Gale Network has suggested that October 10, aka this Thursday, is when it’s happening. And if you’re a rabid fan, looking for clues in everything Nintendo posts, there may even be a hint that it really is this week.

When will the Nintendo Switch 2 be announced?

Although Lippe has been generally accurate in his leaks, predicting Nintendo Directs and being the first to suggest that the Switch 2 has been delayed into 2025, his track record is not 100%.

Still, he made his comments on the Famiboards forum, where fans had become dispirited that it was already October and no annoucement has been made.

Paul Gale Network is even less reliable and in the original tweet about the date he seems to be merely speculating that it’ll be October 10.

This seems to be based on the fact that most Nintendo Directs are on a Thursday, but that Nintendo will not want to make the announcement on or immediately after the release of Super Mario Party Jamboree, which launches on Thursday, October 17.

Trying to predict Nintendo with normal logic seems like a bad idea from the start and yet on Saturday, less than a day after the rumour of October 10 started doing the rounds, Nintendo published the tweet above, promoting the upcoming game Mario & Luigi: Brothership.

It seems to show Mario and Luigi surviving a fall, with the text saying: ‘10/10 landing.’ Since October 10 is 10/10, some fans have convinced themselves that this is a hint that the rumours about Thursday are accurate.

To be fair, it is a slightly odd tweet, with a very short and out of context video clip, but rather than a hint – which is not something Nintendo usually does – it’s more likely to be Nintendo of America’s social media team trolling fans.

Either that or it’s just a complete coincidence.

The only thing that’s known for sure is that Nintendo will unveil the new hardware before April next year, but there’s been no word from them as to how and when that might happen.
