Coronation Street boss Kate Brooks has introduced her wife to the cobbles as she settles into her new role as producer of the ITV soap.

Soap fans will instantly recognise Kate’s wife as Emmerdale’s own Michelle Hardwick, who has played Vanessa Woodfield since 2012. The couple have been married since 2019.

This weekend, Michelle swapped the Dales for Weatherfield as she visited the set of the rival soap, and shared pictures of the experience on her social media.

‘When you come to pick Mama up from work, and accidentally stumble onto the wrong set,’ she joked in the caption of the post, alongside a family photo of them both with their two children, Teddy, 3, and Betty, 1.

The family visited some of the street’s most famous landmarks, including the Rovers Return and the Viaduct Bistro, which were all done up ready for Christmas.

Emmerdale and Corrie stars alike were quick to comment on the post, with Fiona Wade, who played Priya Sharma on the Yorkshire-based soap saying, ‘love’, with a red love heart.

Similarly, Corrie’s DS Lisa Swain star Vicky Myers, added, ‘Love this,’ to which Michelle replied admitting that daughter Betty hadn’t wanted to leave.

Actor Tony Maudsley, who plays George Shuttleworth in the Manchester-based soap, revealed his disappointment to have missed Michelle’s visit, though she promised she would be back soon.

‘Emmerdale had some big make over,’ another joked, while a third said: ‘Vanessa on Corrie…..how mad lol. Fab photos of you all.’

Kate took over the role of producer in April 2024 from former show boss Iain MacLeod, having previously worked alongside wife Michelle on Emmerdale.

Speaking about her appointment to the role, Kate said: ‘Corrie has lit up my living room since I was a kid, so to be asked to produce a show I’ve revered for such a long time is the ultimate “pinch me” moment.

‘I’ve adored the show from across the Pennines and have consistently been in awe of the talent on display, both on and off the screen.

‘It truly is a special show and I endeavour to take great care to ensure that it continues to thrive as we head into the next chapter. Coronation Street has, and always will be, part of my DNA, and I can’t wait to get stuck in.’

Michelle was quick to share her pride after the announcement, taking to social media with a post that began: ‘PROUD WIFE ALERT.’
