Frasier fans delighted as beloved character returns in ‘best episode yet’

Frasier fans have shared their delight, and shed some tears, over the latest episode of the revival, branding it the ‘best one yet’.

The reboot of Kelsey Grammer’s hit sitcom premiered last year to some negative reviews, with the second season currently airing on Paramount+ now.

In the latest episode, the stuffy psychiatrist-turned Harvard professor was reunited with his calculated agent, Bebe Glazer – played to perfection by Harriet Sansom Harris – as he tried to get his memoir off the ground.

Despite some not-so subtle pushback from his family, through some notes submitted by Niles (David Hyde Pierce), he turned to Bebe to sell his life story.

She was joined by daughter Phoebe (Rachel Bloom), and they immediately started trying to lure him back to the small screen instead, in the most outlandish way possible.

Viewers were loving the reunion and flocked to Reddit to unpack the instalment, with Plane-Border3425 cheering: ‘This is the first time I have genuinely and spontaneously laughed during an episode of new Frasier. Thank you Harriet Sansom Harris.’

WifiEnabled penned: ‘This was the best episode of the reboot for me. Everything felt as close to the old Fraiser sitcom as possible, including verbal jabs from Niles who wasn’t even there.

‘I could hear those jabs in his voice practically, and Bebe is just always funny. Great episode!’

‘Having David relay the Niles comments was 💯,’ Nervous-Lab-8194 agreed. ‘It actually felt like Niles was there & it was a great use of David in this episode.’

‘Is it weird I got a tiny bit emotional hearing Niles deliver a classic, pithy comment about Frasier?,’ Calikola queried.

As Kingofwishful added: ‘This was absolutely fantastic. Easily the best episode of the revival and it would have been a strong episode in OG Frasier.’

We were first introduced to Frasier in Cheers, before the character landed his very own spin-off alongside David, John Mahoney, Jane Leeves and Peri Gilpin.

Kelsey was joined by a string of new faces for the revival, but Peri, Harriet and Bebe Neuwirth have reprised their roles so far, with Edward Hibbert and Dan Butler also returning in upcoming episodes.

Speaking to Metro promote the current series, the Hollywood legend touched on who else he would like to return to the fold.

‘We just have Roz right now, we have my agent, Bebe Glazer, played by Harriet Harris, making an appearance. We’ve got Bulldog and Gil Chesterton, they’re going to be on in November. I think everybody knows that already,’ he told us.

‘I’m cooking up a couple of surprises that I think the writers will embrace. We’d like to get the Moon family back!

‘Daphne Moon’s dad, Brian Cox, I’d love to have him show up and teach his grandson how to drink. Something like that? That’s sort of a loose area.’

‘There’s a great character, Jean Smart’s kid Kirby – the red-haired, curly-haired kid,’ he continued. ‘He and I have stayed great, great friends, actually. I was talking to him just the other day, and I said, “I’m trying to cook up a way to get you on the show”.

‘People really remember him. It would be really fun to see him make an appearance, and to see that he’s really succeeded somehow. Something’s really taken off, and it’s all connected to his past and his old girlfriend and a wine cellar.

‘It’s a classic Frasier set up. I think that might get some legs, and we might do a show about it. There’s a lot of stuff that could happen.’

Bring it on!

Frasier is available to stream on Paramount+ now with new episodes dropping on Thursdays.
