Veteran actor and TAMPAN president Mr Latin has announced the demise of his colleague, Mudashiru Olabiyi.

Taking to his official Instagram page last night, he announced the sad news as he revealed that the veteran passed away on the 16th of October, 2024. Mr Latin described his death as a tremendous loss to the industry, as his dedication, leadership, and contributions have left an indelible mark on their organization. He encouraged the public to keep his family in their thoughts during their difficult times as he urged them to offer their support and strength.

“It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of our esteemed National Secretary, Alhaji Mudashiru Olabiyi, who departed from us today, 16th of October, 2024. This is a tremendous loss not only to our association but also to the entire creative community. His dedication, leadership, and contributions have left an indelible mark on our organization, and his absence will be deeply felt.

During this difficult time, I encourage all to keep His family in their thoughts and prayers. Let us come together as a community to offer our support and strength to one another.

May he rest in perfect peace”.

Taking to his comment section, many Yoruba stars paid respect to the late veteran.

Mudashiru Olabiyi is deadMudashiru Olabiyi is dead

Olabiyi would add to the list of Yoruba actors who have died this year. Early this year, Sisi Quadri passed away after he was rushed to the hospital in his hometown of Iwo, Osun State, after suffering persistent hiccups that were caused by kidney-related issues.

Another Yoruba actor, Dayo Adewunmi, popularly known as Sule Suebebe, also died at an undisclosed hospital in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The Yoruba industry isn’t the only one recording death. A month after Sisi Quadri’s death, veteran actor Mr Ibu gave up the ghost at Evercare Hospital following a cardiac arrest.

On March 24th, veteran actor Amaechi Muonagor, who had been battling kidney for almost a year, kicked the bucket. A week before his death, Nollywood producer and marketer Ikechukwu Nnadi, better known as Andy Best, had passed on after a prolonged ailment at a private clinic in Owerri, Imo State.

In April, Nollywood lost another veteran, Zulu Adigwe, whose cause of death till date remains unknown. Two weeks before his death, young actor, Junior Pope had died after drowning while returning from a movie location with his colleagues in a boat at Anam River in Anambra State.

A day before JP’s demise, upcoming actress Jumoke Aderounmu, who was cast in Funke Akindele’s TV series Jenifa Dairy, died at the age of 40.

In June, veteran Nollywood actress Stella Ikwuegbu was announced dead. The sad news was made known by movie producer Stanley Nwoko, otherwise known as Stanley Ontop, via his Instagram page. He revealed that the actress left the world on Sunday, June 16th, after battling with leg cancer.

In August, legendary singer, songwriter, actress, and human rights activist Onyeka Onwenu was announced dead. The icon collapsed after performing at the 80th birthday party of Stella Okolie in Lagos and was rushed to Reddington Hospital in Lagos, where she passed away.

Recently, Nollywood lost another one of their own, Big Larry. The sad news was made known by movie producer Stanley Ontop.
