A new image from Ghosts season 4’s Christmas episode teases the debut of Jay’s (Utkarsh Ambudkar) parents. The CBS series is a remake of the beloved BBC show and follows the lives of a young couple who inherit a run-down mansion occupied by a selection of spirits who met their ends on the grounds and now haunt the building. Jay is the husband to Rose McIver’s Sam, the woman who can see the ghosts after a near-death experience. Ghosts season 4 began on October 17.
CBS has offered an early peek at Ghosts season 4’s holiday episode with a new image and the full synopsis. Check out the image below:
In the image, Sam and Jay reunite with the latter’s sister Bela (Punam Patel) in the Woodstone living room, which has been fittingly decorated with a tree and lights. They are joined by series newcomers Bernard White and Sakina Jaffrey, who play Jay’s father and mother respectively. Titled “A Very Arondekar Christmas” and set to be released on CBS in two parts on December 19, the hour-long episode’s story is as follows:
A leaky water heater mishap threatens to ruin holiday plans as Sam and Jay prepare to host Jay’s hard-to-please dad (Bernard White), difficult-to-impress mom (Sakina Jaffrey) and sister Bela (Punam Patel).
What The Arrival Of Jay’s Parents Means For Ghosts Season 4
Little Is Known About Their Relationship
Based on its synopsis, Ghosts‘ holiday episode will be the series’ most in-depth glimpse into Jay’s family yet, not only by bringing back Bela, but also by introducing his parents. Currently, few details have been revealed about them, save for confirmation that Jay has a positive relationship with them. With the episode showing off their more negative traits, it will add new depths to previously unseen characters.

Ghosts Season 4 New Cast & Returning Character Guide
Ghosts season 4 adds a new face to the Woodstone B&B’s lineup, leaving Sam and Jay with yet another restless spirit to add to the show’s gallery.
Should Ghosts be taking inspiration from its UK predecessor’s similar holiday outing, season 2’s “The Ghosts of Christmas,” in which Jay’s counterpart Mike (Kiell Smith-Bynoe) also had to contend with his family staying over, it is likely Jay will face difficulties taking on hosting duties, leading to abrasiveness with his parents over how he handles the holidays. As such, Jay’s conflict with his parents could be a light-hearted dispute that brings out a new side of the long-running character.
Our Take On Ghosts’ Christmas Episode
The Ghosts’ Holiday Hijinks Remain Hidden
“A Very Arondekar Christmas” promises to be an excellent showcase for Jay, a character who cannot interact with the ghosts like Sam can. The tension with his parents that was hinted at in the synopsis is somewhat different to how their relationship was previously established, hinting that the episode’s disagreement is seemingly situational. Nevertheless, seeing their dynamic on-screen will add new layers to his character.
Furthermore, it is unclear what the holiday episode will hold for the specters of the Woodstone Mansion. With new ghost Patience (Mary Holland) joining the group in Ghosts season 4’s opening episode, it isn’t yet clear how she will fit in with the rest of the group. Nevertheless, the ghosts will likely be thrilled to see Jay’s parents, and they might cause some trouble for the discerning Arondekars. This should make for an entertaining and heartwarming Christmas episode for the CBS sitcom.
