Ke Huy Quan Addresses Whether OB Will Return In The MCU After Loki Season 2

Loki star Ke Huy Quan weighs in on the possibility of TVA scientist Ouroboros a.k.a. OB returning in the MCU anytime soon. Ke Huy Quan made his MCU debut in 2023’s Loki season 2 as Ouroboros a.k.a. OB, a genius scientist who works at the TVA. OB is none other than the author of the TVA Guidebook, which holds the key to maintaining and repairing the TVA’s technology. OB plays a key role in controlling Loki’s Time-Slipping abilities and helping the former God of Mischief become the God of Stories in the Loki season 2 finale. Following the finale, OB reprogrammed Miss Minutes and returned to work at the TVA.

Speaking to Screen Rant about his latest role in the 2025 action comedy Love Hurts, Ke Huy Quan addresses the likelihood of Ouroboros’ return in any of the MCU’s upcoming movies or shows. Quan doesn’t confirm or deny OB’s return, but he voices his love for the character and reveals what Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige told him about the possibility of multiple MCU appearances. Oh my gosh, I love that character. I remember reading him on the page, and he just jumped right off of it. I was so happy, and I felt so lucky to be able to play him. Also, when the series came out, you’ve got to understand, we couldn’t promote it because we were on strike, the actor’s strike. So, I didn’t get to talk much about it then. But when the show debuted, people really loved this character.

And I remember asking Kevin Feige before I did this, I said, “Is this going to be a one-time thing?” He said, “Ke, if the audience loves O.B., we’ll bring him back. We always give the fans what they want.”

So, I haven’t gotten the call yet, but I’m waiting, just like everybody. Fingers crossed, but meanwhile, here’s the thing, Love Hurts comes out a week before Valentine’s Day. This is a Valentine’s movie. I’m super proud of it, it’s a fun movie to bring your date, your girlfriend, your friend, so please go support it when it comes out, it would mean the world to me.

Marvel Studios Is Open To Bringing Ouroboros Back

MCU characters are almost always able to return, even if previous titles killed them off. However, some MCU characters are more likely to come back than others. For instance, Jonathan Majors’ He Who Remains made a big impression in Loki season 1 and Victor Timely was well received in Loki season 2. Unfortunately for these characters, Jonathan Majors’ legal troubles led to a huge change of plans that led the MCU to move away from every Kang variant. Meanwhile, Ke Huy Quan’s OB didn’t have the same amount of screentime as Kang’s variants, but the actor, the studio, and the audience are all clearly eager to bring OB back whenever possible.

Marvel’s Phase 5 has had its ups and downs, but overall it’s done some pretty exciting things for the MCU timeline (and multiverse) ahead of Phase 6.

Kevin Feige’s reassurance that OB can return as long as the audience loves him aligns with recent character returns. Hugh Jackman reprised his Wolverine role in Deadpool & Wolverine despite his seemingly definitive retirement in 2017’s Logan, and Robert Downey Jr. is set to return as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday despite Iron Man’s death in Avengers: Endgame. If these actors could return against all odds, Ke Huy Quan’s beloved Ouroboros is very likely to come back sooner rather than later, as he was one of Loki season 2’s highlights.

OB Is One Of The Most Likely Loki Characters To Return Soon

Among the rest of the Loki season 2 cast, Ke Huy Quan’s Ouroboros seems to be the most likely character to continue his story in a future MCU project. Despite staying with OB in the Loki season 2 finale, Victor Timely likely won’t return due to Jonathan Majors’ firing. Sylvie Laufeydottir and Mobius M. Mobius are central characters in the series, but their stories received an appropriate conclusion with Sylvie building a life of her own and Mobius going back to work at the TVA. Ouroboros’ story, on the other hand, is barely beginning by the end of Loki season 2’s ending.
