Ex-President Donald Trump’s garbage truck stunt aimed at trolling President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris backfired as he missed the door handle a few times and appeared to nearly fall.

Trump, wearing a neon orange safety vest, walked up to a white garbage truck as he arrived at the battleground state of Wisconsin on Wednesday and went for the cab door handle.

But Trump reached for the handle three times and seemed to lose his balance before finally opening it and pulling himself up to the seat.

The Republican candidate then spoke and answered questions while sitting in the cab and leaning out the window.

‘How do you like my garbage truck?’ Trump asked reporters of the vehicle bearing his Make America Great Again campaign logo

‘This truck is in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden.’

The act was in response to what Biden said when he was asked to comment on comedian Tony Hinchcliffe calling Puerto Rico a ‘floating island of garbage’. Hinchcliffe uttered the offensive remark at Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday.

‘The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters,’ Biden said on Tuesday in a call with Voto Latino Group.

Republicans immediately took Biden’s remark as labeling about half of America which supports Trump, ‘garbage’. They compared the comment to 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s comment at the time that half of Trump’s fans should be ‘put into the basket of deplorables’.

Biden that night took to X (formerly Twitter) in an attempt to clarify that he ‘referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump’s supporterat his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage’, and that ‘the comments at the rally don’t reflect who we are as a nation’.

Harris early Wednesday broke her silence by saying that Biden had ‘clarified his comments’ and that ‘I strongly disagree with any criticism of people based on who they vote for’.
