Ever had a sun-chasing holiday that turned cloudy just as you unpacked?

There’s nothing quite as disappointing as being faced with the kind of rubbish weather you get in the UK when you’ve flown thousands of miles – and maybe even spent thousands of pounds – to get away from it.

But now, one European hotel has a pretty good solution.

The City of Dreams Mediterranean is located on the southern coast of Cyprus, a popular holiday spot for Brits, especially those looking to get some winter sun, as temperatures on the island reach the mid 20s, even in November.

Located on the southern coast of Cyprus, the European hotel has made a bold promise: a free one-night stay for every cloudy day you experience on your winter vacation.

Yes, they’re betting on blue skies in one of Europe’s sunniest spots, which boasts sunshine almost 340 days a year.

Here’s how it works: if your day gets less than 70% sunshine between 9 am and 5 pm, as tracked by AccuWeather, the hotel will add a complimentary night to your next trip. That’s a definitive silver lining to any cloud that rolls in.

Beyond the freebie, the resort sweetens the deal with adventures galore—think winery tours, scenic hikes, and village visits.

Plus, if you book before November 30, they’ll knock 15% off the rate for stays until 20 December 2024. Rooms start around £228 a night, and every booking includes a daily breakfast at their Aura restaurant.

Paphos, a charming coastal town just a short drive from City of Dreams Mediterranean, is a dreamy blend of sun, sea, and history.

Famous for its archaeological wealth, this ancient city hosts the famed House of Dionysus, where intricate mosaics showcase Cyprus’s mythic past. For a bit of mystery, visitors can wander through the Tombs of the Kings, which is a vast, open-air archaeological site with atmospheric stone tombs dating back centuries.

When it’s time to kick back, there’s a beach for every mood—from the lively Coral Bay to the quieter Lara Beach, a sanctuary for nesting sea turtles.

Visitors can also wander through the Old Town, with its quaint streets lined with local boutiques, art studios, cafes, and family-run tavernas serving up authentic Cypriot dishes. After a day in the sun, relax by the waterfront for fresh seafood with a sunset view over Paphos Castle.

Senior VP at City of Dreams Mediterranean, Grant Johnson, said, ‘There’s nothing worse than planning your holiday to escape the cold and having the weather turn when you arrive at your destination.

‘We’re blessed with sun almost every day in Cyprus, but to put our guests’ minds at ease, we’ll invite them back (on us) if they don’t get sun while they’re here.’
