Frank Lampard has been touted as a possible replacement for struggling Roma manager Ivan Juric, who is under increasing pressure in the Italian capital.

Roma have picked up just 13 points from their opening 11 games of the season, although Juric only took over from Daniele De Rossi after four of those matches.

The sacking of club legend De Rossi did not go down well at all with Roma fans and the Croatian was fighting an uphill battle from the start.

Results have not helped matters, with a 3-2 defeat at Verona on Sunday continuing to see the pressure mount on the former Torino manager.

Gazzetta dello Sport has linked a number of names to the job, if Juric is to be dismissed, and Lampard is among them.

The 46-year-old has been out of work since a disastrous stint as interim manager of Chelsea at the end of the 2022-23 season.

Lampard returned to the club at which he became a legend in his playing days but won just one of his 11 games in charge.

That stint followed an underwhelming year in charge of Everton which ended in January 2023 with just 12 wins from 44 matches at the helm.

However, Lampard is still clearly enjoying some credit from his encouraging first job in management at Derby County and his first stint in charge of Chelsea, while his immense playing career is obviously also a factor.

His name has been ‘circulated strongly’ according to the report in Italy, but he is not alone in being considered.

Paulo Sousa, who is currently in charge of Shabab Al Ahli in Dubai, has been linked, while Roberto Mancini is also in the frame after leaving his role as Saudi Arabia manager.

Another former Chelsea manager in Graham Potter is also in the frame, as are the likes of Claudio Ranieri, Massimiliano Allegri and Maurizio Sarri.

Juric is still in charge for now, though, and will take his team to face Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League on Thursday night.
