A new Star Wars reveal has helped confirm Sabine Wren’s Jedi status after the events of Ahsoka. At the end of the 2023 Star Wars series, Sabine wields her lightsaber alongside Jedi Knights Ahsoka Tano and Ezra Miller against Thrawn’s Nightstroopers, Morgan Elsbeth, and the Nightsisters known as the Great Mothers, and the Mandalorian warrior even uses the Force. However, new details from a popular Star Wars game have clarified that she’s not a Jedi yet.
As seen in the predominant Star Wars mobile game Galaxy of Heroes from EA, a new version of Sabine Wren is being added a character for players to add to their rosters of heroes. Rather than the original Sabine Wren who wields her dual pistols, grenades, and the legendary Darksaber as she does in the animated series Star Wars Rebels, this new version is name “Padawan Sabine Wren”, inspired by her live-action debut in Ahsoka complete with the green lightsaber given to her by Ezra which she has since modified in the Star Wars canon:
Padawan Sabine Wren comes with three abilities: Practiced Swing as a lightsaber attack, Frantic Strike which is a baster/lightsaber, and Fallback Tactic which is inspired by her moment in Ahsoka episode 4 when Sabine tries using the Force, fails, and then attacks Shin Hati with one of her wrist rockets. However, EA’s Padawan Sabine Wren reveal also clarifies why this new Sabine character does not have the Jedi alignment tag in the game: “Even though she is referred to as Ahsoka’s Padawan, she still has a ways to go in her training to be called a Jedi. Also, game balance.”
What Sabine Wren’s New Stats Mean For Star Wars
She Still Has More Jedi Training Ahead of Her
It’s important to note that Lucasfilm has a dedicated Story Group who reviews everything lore-related when it comes to Star Wars. As such, they more than likely gave this official alignment their approval before EA put the reveal out confirming Sabine’s Jedi status after the events of Ahsoka. As such, it serves as a solid indicator that Sabine should not yet be considered a Jedi Knight (for the time being).

Sabine was able to use the Force twice as seen in Ahsoka’s finale. The first time was to retrieve her lightsaber to kill a zombie death trooper, while the other was the boost Ezra Bridger’s jump onto Thrawn’s Star Destroyer and finally escape Peridea. That said, it makes sense that Sabine still has a ways to go before she can be considered a full-fledged Jedi Knight at this point in the Star Wars timeline.
Our Take On Whether Sabine Can Become A Jedi
A Different Path Could Still Be Chosen…
It’s been established in the Star Wars canon that sensitivity to the Force alone is not what makes a person a Jedi. As such, one can imagine that Sabine will require more training with Ahsoka going forward before she can officially become a Jedi, and the duo supposedly has the time to continue said training considering they’re both stranded on the extragalactic world of Peridea by the end of 2023’s Ahsoka. That said, this also means that Sabine could end up taking a different path as well.
As an example, there’s massive excitement about a potential Shin-Sabine romance. To that end, exploring that idea would certainly mean Sabine would be taking a different path if that’s indeed something that actually happens in future seasons of Ahsoka. At any rate, it’s ver interesting that Galaxy of Heroes has further confirmed the idea that Sabine’s Jedi status is still something she’d need to keep working toward in the future.
