Over The Garden Wall Voice Cast & Character Guide

The cult classic miniseries Over the Garden Wall has an incredible story that was brought to life by the performances of its star-studded vocal cast. Over the Garden Wall is a fan-favorite autumn miniseries, and it’s still popular years after it debuted. In fact, Over the Garden Wall got a 10th anniversary short, and fans of the miniseries still debate the true meaning of Over the Garden Wall‘s story and its symbolism a decade later. Over the Garden Wall is often considered perfect for Halloween because of its impressive and cozy animation and its lovable characters, among many other things.

Without its talented vocal cast, however, Over the Garden Wall‘s characters and story wouldn’t have been nearly as timeless. The voice actors involved in the animated miniseries clearly put their hearts and souls into their performances, and it paid off in dividends. Over the Garden Wall also has a staggering number of famous actors who contributed their talents, and some names may come as a surprise to even the most dedicated fans. One of the best parts of Over the Garden Wall‘s cast, however, is that it also includes notable musicians who lent their singing talents to the show.

Elijah Wood As Wirt

Date Of Birth: January 28, 1981

Actor: Elijah Wood was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Wood’s breakthrough role – and his most iconic character – was playing Frodo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy. While Frodo made Wood an international star, he did have a few high-profile movies before then, such as Flipper and a small role in Back to the Future Part II. Since The Lord of the Rings, Wood has taken on various roles in both movies and shows like Yellowjackets, and he has become a prolific voice actor in both video games and animation.

Character: Elijah Wood voices Wirt in Over the Garden Wall. Wirt is the main character of the miniseries and Greg’s older brother. A common theme with Wirt’s character is his sheepish personality and penchant for melodramatic, self-pitying poetic monologs. Despite being the older of the two brothers, Wirt often follows Greg’s lead as they try to find their way out of the Unknown.

Collin Dean As Gregory

Date Of Birth: January 8, 2005

Actor: Collin Dean was born in the United States. Dean’s breakthrough role was in Over the Garden Wall in 2014, when he was just nine years old. Since then, Dean has had a fairly prolific career as a voice actor. He voiced the lead character in The Loud House for three seasons, and he had small roles on shows like Adventure Time and American Dad! He has only appeared in a handful of live-action roles, including a Funny or Die short opposite Will Ferrell and Zach Galifinakis.

Melanie Lynskey As Beatrice

Date Of Birth: May 16, 1977

Actor: Melanie Lynskey was born in New Plymouth, New Zealand. Lynskey’s breakthrough role was actually her first major acting credit: she played Pauline in 1994’s Heavenly Creatures. Lynskey has had a fairly successful career in the decades since then, but she started a new surge in popularity fairly recently. Lynskey starred in popular shows like Yellowjackets (which reunited her with Elijah Wood), where she played Shauna, and The Last of Us, where she played Kathleen.

Character: Melanie Lynskey plays Beatrice in Over the Garden Wall. Beatrice was a talking bluebird who initially helped Wirt and Greg get to the house of Adelaide, the lady of the wood. Beatrice was formerly a human, but she suffered from a mysterious curse that turned her into a bird.
