Manchester City have announced that Bernardo Silva has inked a new contract extension. The Portugal midfielder inked a one-year contract extension that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium through 2026.
Silva has been linked with moves to Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain this summer, but his new contract ensures he will remain in Manchester beyond the transfer deadline on September 1.
Silva stated, “I’m thrilled to extend my time at Manchester City, where I’ve spent the past six extraordinary years.”
“Last season’s Treble victory was incredibly unique, and it’s thrilling to be a part of a squad with so much hunger and determination.
“Success makes one want even more, and this club allows me to continue succeeding. I adore the manager, my teammates, and the fans, and I hope we can create even more beautiful memories together in the coming years.
Kyle Walker, who has been linked with a summer transfer to Bayern Munich, is on the verge of signing a new contract with City.
Belgian winger Jérémy Doku is expected to become their third summer transfer after Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol. According to ESPN’s sources, they are also keeping an eye on Brazilian midfielder Matheus Nunes, but have yet to make an official offer to Wolves.
Aymeric Laporte also announced his departure from the club via social media on Wednesday. Last week, ESPN reported that City had accepted an undisclosed offer from Al Nassr for the Spain international.
“I want to thank everyone who made this journey possible: the Man City board, the coaches and the entire staff, every single teammate I shared a locker room with, and of course you,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
“It was an honor and a delight to wear these colors, and I hope you will remember me for this in a positive light. Again, I appreciate your generosity. I will always keep an eye on you guys and wish you the best of success for the future.”
